#iBackAPP DAY 2017

It's time #APPNation! #iBackAPP Day 2017 is here! This is one of the biggest days of the year, and without doubt one of the most important, on the Mountaineers calendar...a chance for you to once again show your true colors by tossing a few greenbacks to the place that has given us all so much. The amount you can give does not matter so much as the passion to prove why Appalachian State University alumni, family, & friends stand forcefully united in our support of all things Black & Gold. The gifts you give today will be put to use in many varied ways, not just over the next year, but for years to come. So give, and share, and let us once again demonstrate to all those who do not understand the special meaning of our mountain just why the Appalachian Family is like no other!

The above post is one that I shared this morning on FB and via other social media. Here on the MMB I would add a couple of things:
1.) We're the most passionate of the passionate...if we don't set the standard then how can we expect those less "involved" to follow our lead.
2.) When I mentioned that this is our chance to show our "true colors" it was indeed a backhanded smack at our off-the-mountain brethren schools, schools where so much funding is received from avenues like, oh, I don't know...Wal-Mart licensing deals.
3.) If you are able to go to the #iBackAPP page and give a little something you will find an comment box/space where you are asked something along the lines of "What or who motivated you to give today?" Feel free to share your personal motivation to give and if you'd like to add my name "Norm Cook" at the end of your statement, or simply in place of a statement, it would be appreciated. The alumni office is doing a little "challenge" among #iBackAPP Champions to see who can garner the most referrals, and although today is certainly not about this, it would be nice to know that I had a hand in steering a few more folks towards the giving page on this day of utmost importance.
4.) NOW GO GIVE...AND LET'S GO APPS!!

Thanks, Norm! I had just finished my first meeting of the day and was headed here to post the same thing. I'll add one more to your list.
5) If you're married, please be sure to enter your spouse's name when you donate. In the world of counting donors, a married couple counts as two donors IF the organization has both names attached to a donation.

Done. Would be nice if they gave the option for monthly giving. I would be able to contribute more that way instead of a one time gift.

You can contribute monthly even if it is not set up that way. Just donate each month. I'm sure the university will not mind when as much as if the money comes in

I'm well aware that I can donate on a monthly basis on my own, but this is a fundraising campaign that is trying to reach a specific goal. It would be much easier to reach that goal if they gave the option to spread out the pledge I think they also need to add some of the new funding methods (Paypal, Venmo, etc.). The easier you make it for people to donate, the more success you will have.

Made my donations to the Appalachian Fund and Yosef Club.
Oh, and if anyone wants to throw any huge licensing money at App (besides you Nike - thanks!), don't worry, most of us will be just fine with that.

#iBackApp day is a 24 hour push for donors and dollars. The effort is to see how many donors (goal is 2,000) and how many dollars can be collected in one day for The Appalachian Fund. That's why you don't see the option for monthly giving on the #iBackApp donation site.
If you'd like to make recurring donations to The Appalachian Fund, go
here and choose the option to make recurring gifts.
Thanks to all who have donated.

Thanks, Daphne! And thanks for adding my name (Norm Cook) to the "what/who caused/motivated you to give" box! 6 hours left on the clock for #iBackAPP Day 2017 and we're nearing our goal of 2,000 individual donors. We're up around $130K in giving and I know we still have some nice $$$ left out there if we hit our goal. If any of you are on the fence about giving please know that today is the day to make a statement to other schools that we support our Mountaineers with passion. As has been mentioned, this day each year, for these last few years, has gone a long way towards improving our APR (Alumni Participation Rate in this case) and this # being as high of a % as possible is HUGE for many things related to the growth and success of our university...from those *meaningless school rankings to funding revenue streams to stature in academic/athletic circles.
