You beat me to it! Great performance by our team against some major league opponents.
This teams exemplifies the best qualities of Mountaineer sports; hard work, preparation, clean play, great sportsmanship, and superior results!

Re: Apperion places 2nd
I had the privilege of seeing the Apperion team do a presentation last fall. A key point missing from the article that further exemplifies how impressive they are is the fact that AppState is the only Liberal Arts University that competes. All other team entries are from Engineering Schools at their respective Universities.
A great performance and representation of our University!

very interesting to know this point. I am sure it's googleable but how many schools started this competition?

From the article:
Eighteen teams built vehicles to enter the competition and then were tested for technology and endurance. Three days prior to the race, each team had to pass a series of intense “scrutineering” inspections and vehicle- and driver-qualifying assessments. Scrutineering included solar array inspection, battery, structural- and mechanical-vehicle component testing, and driving tests to verify vehicle stability and braking capability.
On July 5, 12 teams that had passed scrutineering began the race.
Also interesting to note, and very impressive, is that App was number one in the scrutineering portion.

Would love to see them produce a tshirt as a fundraiser for further competitions. What App follower would not want a shirt with their catchphrase 'Runnin on Shine". The sunburst Yosef is pretty cool too.

I see...good to know they were so well prepared ahead of time and did not wait for the "punchlist" to get things right...appst89 wrote:APPRIDE wrote:AppDawg wrote: A key point missing from the article that further exemplifies how impressive they are is the fact that AppState is the only Liberal Arts University that competes. I served as chaplain for a race at that track. It is tough for pros to do well there with the elevation changes and turn angles. For our solar car to podium is extrordinary!.....GO APPS!

Here's the article from Appalachian Magazine:
http://appalachianmagazine.org/stories/id/765
In the daily updates it mentions several time how impressive the pit stops were. Maybe our App Nascar connections helped prepare the team

Re: Apperion places 2nd
I wouldn't mind the AD adopting that Yosef logo minus the background.
When will "It's better than what we had" no longer be good enough for App State?
