Now that it officially is App State property, I wonder what the time frame will be in deciding its use.

Ideally a "South Campus" of Appalachian State with classrooms, residence halls, athletic complex with track and soccer field. Throw in some walkway bridges over 105 to make it easier to access to those who want to walk and add a shuttle or bus system for those who don't have cars.

What’s the deal with our Millenium campus? I thought I had read something about that at one point, maybe up at broyhill? I’m probably not helping much but any info on that from anyone in the know would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hold that "Millenium Campus" thought. Oh, and get ready for the "great land grab." Every program on campus wants first dibs.

Traffic is going to be a nightmare on 105. It is already difficult to get out from the Comfort Suites back toward campus. Hopefully DOT can figure out something to make it easier.

Hopefully they utilize the old stadium area and make a new track/soccer complex so we can give Kidd Brewer an eventual facelift!

I think perhaps the racial aspect in the article is conjecture.

Which is what the article states also. If I counted correctly, paragraph 10 of the article.

That article demonstrated the vast difference between trying to conduct a sell between a private entity (WF University) and public WSSU along with state and local politics involved. There is no doubt that there are many players in the Bowman Gray Stadium sell process on all sides with supporters and detractors. With the ongoing racing interest, city interest, university interests, state interest, and various other power brokers, you have a lot of complications. That is the unfortunate nature of the beast. Maybe WSSU may be better off ditching BGS and finding a less complicated piece of property where THEY have total control of the usage. I don't blame them for not wanting to share it with racing. If they have a stadium they should be in a better position to control their property. I don't like Apps lack of total control relative to Holmes center as a perfect comparison.

In the Watauga HS sell it would have appeared on the surface as a slam dunk for town to sell to university but look what happened in that situation.

Dealing with government agencies are a royal pain.

They're probably trying to make sure that with WSSU taking over the stadium, that the longest-running NASCAR track in the country doesn't cease to exist. I don't know how many butts go in the seats of a WSSU Rams football game, but the NASCAR races pack the place out every week. I'd hate to see it go away, especially seeing that it's like one of the only local short tracks out there that actually has fans, cars, sponsors, and $ coming into it.

That is asphault. KBS is a type of rubberized surface.
