A Basketball team is 25 people. 90% of restaurants can accommodate that with a couple of hours notice. I think that it depends on travel time. If you are coming in early to practice the day before and then go to game, then you don't want to have to bus players an hour or more to the stadium, practice then bus them back. If you are just coming for the game, then you can stay farther out since you will likely go to the airport after the game. With us no longer in a "bus" league, teams (and us) normally head out earlier and have the final practice at the home venue.

I grew up in Boone and watched it being built. FWIW, the sorority dorm originally opened up as a Sheraton and had a restaurant and separate bar for a while as well as a fairly decent sized meeting room.
