KANNAPOLIS — The principal of Kannapolis Middle School has been promoted to second in command at Kannapolis City Schools.

The Board of Education voted Monday to make Dr. Chip Buckwell the new assistant superintendent. He’ll replace Dr. Debra Morris, who retired Dec. 1.

From a fellow Cabarrus County resident, congratulations, Dr. Buckwell!

Congrats to Chip. Wish you could've moved seven miles down the road, but K-Town needs all the Black and Gold influence it can get -- even if its Appalachian Black and Gold.

I am the luckiest guy in the world....I never thought about this at any point in my career until the last couple of months!
