ASU's Corey Lynch: The sad part to me is I don't know if I'll ever go back to Appalachian State. I'm embarrassed to go back there because they fired Coach Moore after all that happened.

That was my first thought as to whether he is still very vengeful or if he will accept.

Corey always seemed like a good guy, and he has every right to hold a grudge but it has been so many years and even Coach Moore has been back. At some point it is time to let this go, if only for his on mental health.

I did note the article was from 2014. I hope Corey's thoughts on this have changed. I would think that if he talked with Coach then Jerry would tell him to let it go as well. It seems Jerry has let it go enough to at least do a few things himself at KBS.

We need to name "something" for Coach Moore. Long over due.

In hindsight it was the right move just poorly executed as the FOIA showed.

The program is bigger than one person, I’ll be disappointed in Corey if he doesn’t show.

Anyone have a list of the 2005-2007 teams members selected to the HOF?

I saw Corey at the 10th year anniversary of the 07 NC at KBS. He was on the field with his teammates.

I can still hear the Big 10 Network announcer, "BLOCKED BY COREY LYNCH!"

I have to believe he has come to peace with it and will be there.

Jerry knew it was his last year and he asked the administration to keep it quiet. Then when his time was up he either forgot or lied which made the administration look bad. His family was telling people a year ahead of time that it was his last year. It only looked like it was poorly executed because Jerry went back on his agreement. And I'm a much bigger Jerry fan than Cobb fan so this isn't a biased view.

Is anyone a bigger Cobb fan than Jerry fan? If so, may next question would be, "Are you even an App fan?" :-)

There has been significant healing between Coach Moore and App State since that article was published in 2014. Everybody who knows anything about the program knows that this was handled very badly by the administration. I just wonder how many more years it will be before we stop re-hashing the whole thing.

Corey Lynch was and continues to be a fine young man. The rift caused by the administrative bungle was painful and incredibly hurtful to the football program but it appears that DG and Satterfield have it back on track.

Congratulations to Corey Lynch and all of the nominees for an honor well deserved!

Until we can agree it was handled poorly by both sides, I bet we keep rehashing this.

No doubt DG and SS have more than overcome that dark time.

I just wish these things were made public by the parties involved since the blowup was so public.

Accurate.
I wish CC had not agreed to kept it quiet and insisted on a season long celebration and send off, and .....”Jerry Moore Field”

I don't think that there are many who know much about the situation who would disagree. Coach Moore had a hand in things and as I understand it, he attempted to change positions to get a further extension. In the end, he is a coach and was hired for him competitive spirit and leadership. We have seen far too often how difficult it is for men like this to step down. Cobb's job was administration and so management of these situation, including the PR side of these announcements, falls squarely on his shoulders. Moore played a role in creating / aggravating the situation, but ultimately it wasn't his job to manage the issue.

Given his contributions to the football program and the type of person he is in general, the Moore's contribution is considered a blip on the radar. Personally, I have no hatred toward Cobb but this situation combined with the hiring of Capel are the two issues that killed his support among the App faithful. I hope he enjoys GSU and does a good job down there.

Agreeing to keep the planned retirement quiet is precisely where CC lost control of the situation. Unintended consequences. Things unraveled from there.

Congrats to all 5 Hall of Fame inductees!

Marques Murrell was one of the best football players we have ever had at App (IMO) and I loved watching him play the game! He was the Southern Conference Male Athlete of the Year & Football Defensive Player of the Year (2006), Check out what Wikipedia says about Marques' college career at App (copied/pasted below).

"Murrell was a two-time first team All-American performer at Appalachian State University, finishing his career with 36 sacks and a school-record 18 forced fumbles. Murrell gained 13 sacks in both his junior and senior seasons, fueling his Appalachian State to two consecutive Division I-AA National Championships in 2005 and 2006. In the 2005 title game he forced a fumble that was returned by Jason Hunter for the winning touchdown in a 21–16 victory over University of Northern Iowa."

A man of his character that makes a deal preseason should uphold the deal post season, bottom line. How can people out more of the blame on the side that was consistent throughout the process? There is no doubt Moore did much more for App than any other person involved, but don’t let bias come into play on what we all know is reality.

I’ll try to refrain from further posts on this, as I know the memories are painful.
