Today's BOT Meeting 6.21.18

Unread post by asu66 » Thu Jun 21, 2018 3:38 pm

The BOT has been in "hot topic" session all day dealing with those messy little issues like student housing/P3; internal audit procedural updates; write-off of uncollectible accounts; faculty handbook updates; on-campus traffic/parking manual; acquisition/usage of real estate; regulation related to fostering undergrad student success; and athletics (along with various and sundry other topics).

The Trustees' Athletics Committee is in session as I pound my keyboard with presentations by Doug Gillin and Scott Satterfield on the agenda along with an executive session for HR/personnel action. Hopefully, by 5:30 PM or so, Jim Fox will have his new coaching staff selections approved so they can begin to bond with holdover staffers or take on new responsibilities (as the case may be)...as summer observation of the team's activities gets up to full bore.

That's an interesting little tid-bit.

Causes one to wonder if Satt was one of the three.

Pure speculation on my part but based on their specific groups' play over the past couple of seasons, I'd guess 2 of the 3 coaches being contacted by an A5 team would be Clark (OL) and Brown (DB).

With 1 player being drafted and another going as a free agent this year, Clark's OL did not really miss a beat after Ledford departed and we see how well he's doing at NCSU. Clark really gets to earn his paycheck this year with the rebuild of the right side and finding some depth.

Brown's CBs lead the FBS in INT's (30) since 2015. His position group is playing their way on to All-Conference teams, not to mention Duck's Freshman All-American recognition. The teams he coaches usually end up top 25 in pass defense. Even if you go back to 2011 at Ole Miss, where the Rebels ended the season 2-10, the pass D was still ranked top 25.

I would also add coach iron mike to that list. I know a couple years ago VT tried to get him, but he said he would only leave if Satterfield left it Elliott got a HC job. My guess is with Elliott at Ga St. it was a lateral and conference foe, and he is staying until one of the 2 get a P5 gig

I'd be surprised if Woody didn't offer Brown and Ivey spots on his staff at Georgia Tech.

Glad to hear Sanford Hall is being renovated. That building was in bad shape in 1999.

I hope they do something to the facade as well, being a focal point at the end of Sanford Mall

I would agree that Ivey and Brown were probably two of them. Has Clark been around long enough to warrant a P5 offer?

Either our coaches are staying because they truest like Boone more than their offers OR Satt told them he’s taking them with him to his next school. I’d bet the latter. Just MO
