Only big news I would be ecstatic about would be Chancellor Everts finding another job and Chancellor Peacock coming back. (just kidding)GastonApp09 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 10, 2018 8:54 amI guess we will have to wait for the Wednesday afternoon news dump? C'mon 66 you're killing me smalls!

The big news is that we have won the Sun Belt Championship. They’re just waiting until we win it to announce it.

Re: Big news coming soon?
Not sure if this is the news but some information many might find interesting. The BOG approved the on-campus housing P3 project. Plan is to have a 475 space parking deck where Winkler (Stadium Lot) formerly sat by August 2019. Construction of buildings 100 & 200 from the P3 project with roughly 1,000 beds is slated to start in March of 2019 and set to open in August 2020. Justice and East will be torn down most likely after 100/200 are built. The Stadium Lot building is set to open in August 2021 with around 500 beds. Housing with roughly 625 beds where Justice currently sits is supposed to be completed by August 2022. On campus housing sits at approximately 5,700 and once all this is completed (tear down and construction), App will have roughly 6,000-6,100 beds on campus.
Already known but just a reminder, Owens demolition is set for this December/January '19. Construction of new EZ facility set to begin in March/April 2019. Building is set to begin in 2019-2020 at the old high school site for the track, outdoor tennis and softball.

As much as I love juicy news, I don't like the anticipation of having to wait forever for it. Maybe we could all just be pleasantly surprised next time...?

Let's cut him some slack, he said "cross your fingers" and "should". What ever his news is, it is just taking longer to work out or has fallen through.
They don't announce the Game Day location until Saturday.

Re: Big news coming soon?
OK, OK don't set your hair on fire. Criticize me as you wish. I can handle it! I couldn't post this before it was approved and made public by the UNC-Board of Governors. The BOG met for its regular monthly meeting today in Chapel Hill.
The BOG was being asked to approve a marathon construction program for Appalachian that'll unfold over the next 5-6 years (allowing for weather issues, architectural change orders and cost overruns) that will substantially change Appalachian's campus infrastructure, university profile and ability to recruit upper-echelon students, student-athletes, faculty members, leadership and coaches. Multiple sources are reporting that approvals were granted at today's BOG meeting. Thanks to Moonshine and others for noting the approvals in this afternoon's posts.
Despite the approaching tropical weather, this news makes today a fabulous day for App and The High Country. The official bird of Appalachian, the mountain songbird, is about to be joined by the *construction crane.* Pardon that old corny line, but this means that starting with the new School of Health Sciences complex and continuing with the Millenial Campus (P3 housing), Sanford, North end zone and 105 projects, Appalachian is and will be undergoing the largest, continuing campus construction initiatives in our lifetimes.
Methinks that makes it great to be App State Mountaineers.

Definitely huge for the school, can't wait to see Owens GONE. What an eyesore that is. Really, with the track gone and Owens replaced, the stadium will look big league for the first time ever, and hopefully we'll get some decent televised games with a nationally ranked team by that time!
