What would it take?

Unread post by Appstate88 » Mon Oct 29, 2018 7:36 pm

What would it take to fully fund all the NCAA D1 eligible athletic scholarships for our sports at Appalachian State?

How many men’s and women’s scholarships are we short by sport?
How many more people would need to join Yosef Club to fix this problem?
How much money does AD Doug Gillin need from us to be able to give each coach a fully scholarship funded team to compete and win?

Thanks for helping me better understand our current situation.

Daphne can probably share exact numbers... If I recall correctly, the number to fully fund all scholarships is just over $7 million.

YOSEF donors provide approximately half of that. Between $3.5 - $4 million annually.

Keep in mind that there are only a handful of sports where everyone gets a full ride. For instance, baseball only gets something like 17.5 to split up.

Thanks Appstate94. I found this on the internet...For men’s baseball, NCAA D1 Team Limit: 11.7

NCAA D1 baseball programs are allowed to offer a maximum of 11.7 athletic scholarships, which can be divided up among a maximum of 27 players. A D1 player on scholarship must receive a minimum scholarship of 25% of the total cost of attendance. A full scholarship includes tuition, fees, books, room, and board.

Does our baseball head coach get the max (11.7) or something less for his team?

Would like to know our situation for all men’s and women’s sports. Go Apps!
