Still thinking about this. I can't stop thinking of the families and pray for everything to turn out for the best.AppUSMC wrote: ↑Sun Dec 09, 2018 1:10 amThe USMC F-18 Hornet and KC-130J that collided in Japan during aireal refueling last Wednesday involved a member of our Appalachian family and one of my closest friends.
He is LtCol Kevin Herrmann and he is one of the five C-130 crew that are still missing. His family is asking for your prayers that he is found.
Kevin and I both joined the Marines out of App just before 9/11. We were together during TBS and flight school. We went to the same fleet squadron in Cherry Point and were in Iraq together.
He is one of us. He reads this board because he loves App and App football. Now, I join his family in asking for your prayers that he is found. Please pray for his wife and three daughters as they wait anxiously for information from search and rescue officials in Japan. Thank you in advance for your support and Semper Fi.

The US and Japanese military are throwing everything they have at finding the missing crew. Still five missing. It’s just heart breaking. Kevin was supposed to get orders back to the east coast this summer and we discussed all the football games we’d go to next year. He played baseball at App and was wanting to see them play too.

definitly praying for the herrmann family as well as the other military families dealing with this. Such a sad thing and I deeply appreciate all service men and women for the sacrifices they make daily.

Re: An App State Marine Needs Our Prayers
I was Navy, and we are very big on tradition. Any time we lose someone; whether it be to retirement or in the line of service something similar to below is said. Now I did not know the Lt. Col. But he is my brother twice over. Prayers to the family. The following is an adaptation of The Watch.
For Many years
This Marine has stood the watch
While some of us were in our bunks at night
This Marine stood the watch
While some of us were in school learning our trade
This shipmate stood the watch
Yes.. even before some of us were born into this world
This shipmate stood the watch
In those years when the storm clouds of war were seen brewing on the horizon of history
This shipmate stood the watch
Many times he would cast an eye ashore and see his family standing there
Needing his guidance and help
Needing that hand to hold during those hard times
But he still stood the watch
He stood the watch for many years
He stood the watch so that we, our families and
Our fellow countrymen could sleep soundly in safety, Each and every night
Knowing that a Marine stood the watch
Today we are here to say
'Shipmate... the watch stands relieved
Relieved by those You have trained ,Guided, and Led
Shipmate you stand relieved.. we have the watch..."
"Boatswain..Standby to pipe the side...Shipmate's going Ashore.."

Heart breaking. Would love to see some type of honor at the game. No doubt my tears won't be held back

My thoughts exactly.
We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.

On such short notice it might be a challenge to coordinate but I would think simple Globe and Anchor stickers should be easily available...would need 85.
