I remember there still being a Yofest around '87. The Connells and Henry Lee Summer performed on the Upper Stadium field.

Speaking of Molly Hatchet, check this out. Rest In Peace Danny Joe:
Off topic but did see them at Joker's 3 in Greensboro when Danny Joe rejoined. He was on a local morning radio show and the DJ asked him if he was glad to be back with the band. Typical Danny Joe Brown response: "Is a hog's ass ham"?!

Late '80's/Early 90's: Geno's, Savannah Joes, and The Sheraton's (before it became Sorority Tower) Friday Happy Hour (50 cent draft and 10 cent wings)... Certainly not on our list of best wings in Boone, but reliable student nourishment!... To this day, Tijuana Fats had my all time favorite bar (dark, quaint pub atmosphere), even though the Mexican grub left much to be desired...

I'm pretty old, but, have any of you guys posted anything about a thing called "Rally Weekend at ASU" in the early seventies. Memory pretty foggy but I seem to remember something during that time happening. I was in high school at the time for most of them.
Rally Weekend. I haven't thought about that in a long time. That was a wild time at Appalachian. I remember lots of friends from home coming up for the weekend, making PJ in trash cans and drinking it all weekend. Some of the entertainment I remember included Steppenwolf, Junior Walker & the All Stars, James Gang, Doobie Brothers, Edgar Winter.

Rally Weekend. Got too popular, students from colleges all over the southeast. Leo's couldn't handle. Was wild.

'82 (freshman): Happy hour with 5 cent drafts (yes a nickel) at Mother Fletcher''s, buckets of beer at Clyde's, bands at PB Scott's and hanging on the deck at Holly's. (Note: The drinking age was 18)
'83 (sophomore): Cheap Trick at Varsity Gym, parties at the Powderhorn shed and also at "The Barn" (on Winkler's Creek)
'84 (junior year) Antler's Drink & Drown night (Fried chicken and unlimited beer for $4), private fraternity keggers with a cover charge and Yosef Music Festival in Valle Crusis (which was wild)
'85 (senior year- Beer in Boone was passed!) Taking a 6 pack of tall boys to H'Appys (now Legends) to see bands, Geno's dance club, and lot's of house parties.
Why do I remember those day's better than what did last week?

Iplayed a lot of pinball in the lower floor of the bar where Woodlands is. Can’t remember the name. I do remember theRedDog Salloon though.
Grub steak?
Still a little fuzzy on it but I think you're right. All these people calling it Mother Fletcher's too. Guess they forgot the Library Club. I got hit on one night in there. One problem though, it wasn't by a member of the opposite sex. I wanted to hit back (in a different way) but my friends talked me out of it. Sad story too. the only time I was ever propositioned in a bar in my life. I stooped going there for a long time and only went back for happy hour and when Vic Mclean was working the DJ booth.
Mother Fletchers and the Library Club were definitely not located in Woodlands. Woodlands was a fully formed standalone when those places took off.

I think you still had to go to Blowing Rock to buy beer in 1985. I remember brown bagging, but I think the beer still came from BR. Tried to look it up but got swallowed up be google nonsense.

Rally weekend: MOUNTAIN. During the streaking craze that naked gal hops up on stage and plants a big one on Leslie West. He didn't flinch.

Well aware. Think he was right about the Grub Steak. Wasn't clear enough about the two different places. Mother Fletcher's was the old Library Club. Folks were calling it Mother's and no one mentioned Mike Bovino and the Library Club. Home of 75 cent quarts at happy hour and 10 cent bud draft nights no Thursdays.

edited to delete triple post. every edit is posting new again. I promise to stop editing that last post....

Not sure if Woodlands predates the Library club. I got to town in the summer of '77. The Library Club was already there and open. I didn't find Woodlands til fall. I know Woodlands opened in '77 just not sure when.

I believe this album cover from Doc, Merle, and the Band was taken at Clydes or Hollies (not sure which one): https://www.google.com/search?q=doc+and ... IrUVh0o1VM:
Nope; that's PB Scotts.
We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.

It's the original PB Scott's which later became Clyde's when PB's moved into the location remembered by most of us. That's why I said it was Clyde's. Either answer would be correct.

Agreed, it's Clyde's, I recognize the window in the background.
