So sad for those ducks. They were always fed the best hallucinogenic drugs in the state of North Carolina.

Re: RIP Duck Pond Field
Is the Duck Pond gone for good or just being fenced off for a bit during construction? The picture seems to imply the pond will stay, at least in some form.

Re: RIP Duck Pond Field
The field is separated from the pond by Trivette. Only the field has been gated. The trees have been cut and are in a pile. Some of the paver stones at the Front entrance of Trivette have been removed as well.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Fri Feb 15, 2019 6:43 pmIs the Duck Pond gone for good or just being fenced off for a bit during construction? I’m not a tree hugger by any means. but Why couldn’t those trees have been transplanted? I’m a GC and that can be done as inexpensive as cutting and hauling off. Those trees have been through a lot lol.AppKing21 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 15, 2019 7:40 pmThe field is separated from the pond by Trivette. Only the field has been gated. Re: RIP Duck Pond Field
Those trees were quite old and mature. Transplanting then would have been severely cost prohibitive. Maybe a school like Harvard, with an endowment greater than those of most nations could afford that, but not App.mountaineerman wrote: ↑Fri Feb 15, 2019 7:55 pmI’m not a tree hugger by any means. but Why couldn’t those trees have been transplanted? Hod-ahmighty...........We done got a botanist/landscaper on our hands. I hate the off season. Cut the trees, raze it to the ground.... Why would you think the equipment needed for your $600 per tree project are available in Boone? Why does it matter when you likely live in a house made of wood? Why feed the trolls that call folks tree-huggers when it actually matters for a few invasive trees in a field of debauchery? Why?

Re: RIP Duck Pond Field
Will there be any green space left that made the campus so fantastic? How much longer before the park is gone as well? I understand expansion/growth is needed but the expense of what makes a campus unique isn't always the best plan.
To quote the Counting Crows:
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got til its gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot

The entire campus will return to forest when the inevitable trillion dollar bubble known as student debt bursts. Just be patient.appdaze wrote: ↑Sat Feb 16, 2019 8:57 pmWill there be any green space left that made the campus so fantastic? How much longer before the park is gone as well? Re: RIP Duck Pond Field
Dang lurk you drunk? Simply stating a point. I really don’t care either way. I’m two hours away from Boone in Hendersonville and can get it done for that. Yes I do live in a wood framed house and brick as 99% of Americans do ... stupid post.NoLongerLurking wrote: ↑Sat Feb 16, 2019 8:47 pmHod-ahmighty...........We done got a botanist/landscaper on our hands. I guess we have 8-12 more years before the delinquency reaches 1 trillion. Hope we get a NY6 win sooner than later.

Re: RIP Duck Pond Field
They’ve definitely thought about green space and ground permeability with this project. Stadium lot will be replaced with dorms and green space. We’re literally getting rid of a parking lot in favor of more green space for this project.appdaze wrote: ↑Sat Feb 16, 2019 8:57 pmWill there be any green space left that made the campus so fantastic?
