Re: Stadium Area Pics
It's my understanding lowering the field isn't a cost effective option because there's a creek flowing through solid bedrock underneath it. It would require diverting the stream and a significant amount of expensive blasting to achieve.

Two separate outside teams of geologists
have said similar things as your post as well as two in house geologists, APPdiesel. Not sure about the five feet aspect but it is just under the surface so to speak.

Oh are we going back to the lowering the field talks? I would also like to talk about the piped in music and band placement if we are bringing up beaten horses

How can it be solid bedrock if there's a creek flowing through it?

Remember they had to blast just to put the new scoreboard in and went through a couple drillbits as well.HighPointApp wrote: ↑Mon Mar 11, 2019 11:23 amHow can it be solid bedrock if there's a creek flowing through it?

My apologies.BTK2000 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 11, 2019 11:48 amRemember they had to blast just to put the new scoreboard in and went through a couple drillbits as well.HighPointApp wrote: ↑Mon Mar 11, 2019 11:23 amHow can it be solid bedrock if there's a creek flowing through it?

Re: Stadium Area Pics
Are those drill bits only a few inches in diameter? What did drilling with such a tiny bit accomplish for the scoreboard?

Re: Stadium Area Pics
What's pictured aren't really individual drill bits so much as replaceable "teeth," and a bunch of them all get affixed to the end of something this boring head. So they were probably used in the process of drilling out holes for pilings. And what's cool is that you can see the angle of the cutting head they were drilling with by looking at the wear pattern on the used teeth.StorminASU wrote: ↑Mon Mar 11, 2019 1:28 pmAre those drill bits only a few inches in diameter? Re: Stadium Area Pics
Haha that wasn’t my intent and i had forgot that was a frequent topic of discussion around here. I just thought Dukes renovation was well done and they have a great looking venue because of it.

Re: Stadium Area Pics
Haha it’s all good. Yeah I agree that Duke did a great job with that renovation. I’ve also always heard that our stadium is tricky to add on to because of the different generations of additions that already exist. For example the current grandstand on the home side can’t be added onto because of new building codes that it doesn’t meet, but that’s just speculation and hearsay on my end.
