Went to the Raleigh stop last night and a lot of the same things said that were previously posted. Spent some time talking with Doug and Coach Drink. The number of season tickets thrown out last night was 6400 fwiw. Walked away feeling that the entire Athletic Department is in great hands.

Beating a dead horse, we can be so much better if we can fully fund scholarships. I believe it was Coach Ginipro that said when he first arrived 12 years ago the goal for Yosef club was 500k for the year. The last Head Coaches meeting they had they had gotten 500k the previous month. Every penny helps.

Two things that really impressed me from Drink were his stance on the freshman and his recruiting. The freshman have to earn everything. When they get there they get a plain white practice jersey. The players and position coach vote to decide when they have earned a number. Second, the guy will go toe to toe with anyone. His stance is to make a recruit tell him no. Mentioned Willie Taggart came on late for Baldwin and McFarland I believe. And he won that battle. Excited for the next chapter in Mountaineer Athletics.

In Raleigh as well. Drink continues to impress, Enjoyed comments by Kerns and Ginipro as well. Ginipro is a good coach and sells his sport well. Kerns in one on one conversation is a really impressive guy. They are all recruiting players and putting a product on the field that we can be proud of. There's no UNCheat on the mountain and momentum continues to build. It's a good time to be a Mountaineer.

Season ticket sales are befuddling. We lead the league in attendance but lag in season ticket sales. Is it culture or are we not marketing season tickets the same as other schools?

To be fair Troy and Ark St. season tickets are priced lower overall with more variability than ours.

We have many fans that wait until single ticket sales are open and buy for 2-4 games. So this demand keeps our price point higher for both season tickets and single game tickets.

Still if we average 24-26k a game, at least 40% of that should come from season tickets.

ECU has seen a dramatic decrease in season tickets sales, in 2010 they were ~23,000, last year they had 13,000, now some of that is due to on the field results, but also a sign of available tickets in a large stadium and people being less available six Saturdays in the fall.

IMO the main reasons Season Ticket sales lag behind are:
1) With the hill there's no defined limit for admittance. The hill holds so many that games are nearly impossible to sell out. There's no scarcity to drive season ticket sales as there's almost 0% chance that you won't be able to just walk up on any gameday and get in.

2) Season ticket pricing doesn't offer enough of a discount vs single game ticket pricing to drive sales. (this piggybacks off of Saint3333's comments)

If there is no concern about single game ticket availability and there's no significant discount vs single game tickets - you're really only left with purchasing Season tickets for convenience and knowing where you're seated every game.

Quite honestly, for many games you can purchase a better seat with a single game ticket than the person who gives at the Black and Gold level and buys season tickets.
