It seems the world is upside down figuratively.appstatealum wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2019 6:49 pmCorrect. Not to get in the politics of it, but aren’t we just confusing these kids more if we let them choose how to identify?
This world is starting to make me really exhausted.....

Does this affect me in any way? No. I will focus on more meaningful things.

What a fantastic piece of movie history. One of my all time favorite lines.

If I think I'm black that doesn't make me black if I'm white. If I think I'm a cow that doesn't make me a cow if I'm a dog. If you think you're a girl but have a ding dong, you're not a girl. If fairly simple. You either got one or you don't. Be nice and accept whoever, but dudes competing against girls isn't fair-ever.

I don't think being dismissive of the gender identity issue in total is really the answer. I just think this particular accommodation is not reasonable because it creates an unfair disadvantage for female athletes.

Sad situation, much sympathy for theses folks. This is all about confusion and the father of lies is behind it all.

South Park had an episode years ago, long before gender dysphoria became the cause de je it is now, where one of the dads had surgery to look like a dolphin and went around demanding "dolphin rights".Westisthebest wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2019 10:00 pmIf I think I'm black that doesn't make me black if I'm white. On a serious note, the closest common comparison to gender dysphoria (the clinical name for transgender) would be anorexia, when a person believes they are overweight even when they are not. The most appropriate, fair, and humane way to help a skinny person who believes they are fat is not to encourage their belief, put them on a diet or weight control medication, nor give them gastric bypass surgery.

Why would someone put themselves through all of the treatments and surgeries if they didn't believe it themselves?Rekdiver wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2019 1:16 pmIt's not a belief..................AppfaninCAALand wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2019 8:59 amSouth Park had an episode years ago, long before gender dysphoria became the cause de je it is now, where one of the dads had surgery to look like a dolphin and went around demanding "dolphin rights".Westisthebest wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2019 10:00 pmIf I think I'm black that doesn't make me black if I'm white. Yes I know I'm being a little intentionally obtuse, but how can it be anything other than a belief? Everything involving One's body is either physical or mental. It's not physical, so it must be mental. If it's mental, it's a belief. To call it a belief doesn't lessen the strain it puts on the person or say we should treat them unfairly. I personally don't have the slightest problem with people being trans if that is how they feel they can best cope with their mental concerns. But let's not kid ourselves, they are mental concerns not physical.

Simple language, straight to the point, but not PC, Westisthebest. FWIW, I detest PC the way it is used to manipulate in these days and times.Westisthebest wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2019 10:00 pmIf I think I'm black that doesn't make me black if I'm white. I too see it as a belief. I was just trying to find out how it could be described as anything else. That said it doesn’t dismiss the condition or take away from the sympathy I have for these folks. I won’t support or celebrate the belief but I will love the individual.

I'm of the opinion that your level of concern will substantially increase if/when you become the parent of a daughter...or two...or three. Issues of this *temperature* are relative.NoLongerLurking wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2019 8:57 pmDoes this affect me in any way? No. I will focus on more meaningful things.
