Boone and Burlington are the only two real college towns on there. Boulder is borderline. Madison and Annapolis are not college towns, so Boone should really be #1...

I just want national recognition that Boone is a better college town than Chapel Hill. It’s an objective truth.

I hear you but it doesn’t help that local bars are advertising for Tar Heel fans to come and watch games in Boone..

To really escape from it all, head deep into the Blue Ridge Mountains to Boone, North Carolina, home to Appalachian State University. The mix of the mountain and college cultures creates an eclectic vibe for dining and relaxation. Take in nature with a hike. For an easy adventure, try Howard’s Knob, which sits in the middle of Boone. For those looking for a thrill, try a more difficult path to the Grandfather’s Bridge — a mile-high suspension bridge for hikers boasting 360-degree views of the mountains. On your return to town, shop and explore King Street and dine on modern Southern food at Proper or Vidalia.
I know most of us use the possessive for the name of the mountain but the USGS calls it Howard Knob.
