Re: Buyout for DG?
Is he looking to leave? He just made his two biggest hires to date so I would think that he would want to see how they panned out.

Re: Buyout for DG?
I could honestly understand the position either way. I only ask because I have not seen his name associated with the Memphis job.

Have to be a big $ offer to entice me to live in Memphis. Not a nice city and highest crime rate in the state.

Does an AD at a SBC school that has been the Associate AD at a P5 school need to go to the AAC before getting a P5 job. I’d like to think not. Hold out DG bigger offers will come.

Re: Buyout for DG?
I have a feeling he's eyed several AD jobs with a higher pecking order. Sure has been a lot of turnover in that building.

Between hiring two new coaches and the NEZ project set to be done relatively soon, I would hope and like to think he'd stick around a little longer.

Re: Buyout for DG?
back to the lesson of Satterfield for everyone, it's always about the money. not a one of us wouldn't make a zip code change for the kind of money he got for moving versus staying put. same for DG.

Things are not always what they appear to be. Tried to PM you but you apparently don't want them.Black Saturday wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2019 9:58 amback to the lesson of Satterfield for everyone, it's always about the money. not a one of us wouldn't make a zip code change for the kind of money he got for moving versus staying put. same for DG.

Re: Buyout for DG?
If I'm making $250,000 and I get an offer for a job at $375,000 that requires moving to some place I have no desire to be, I'm turning it down. It's not like DG doesn't have other prospects.Black Saturday wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2019 9:58 amback to the lesson of Satterfield for everyone, it's always about the money. not a one of us wouldn't make a zip code change for the kind of money he got for moving versus staying put. same for DG.
Compared to the Satterfield situation, Louisville is a far cry from Memphis. Satt likely had low interest in other "lateral" moves early on because he realized that the work he was putting in would lead to a better opportunity; his bet on himself paid off. Gillin is in a good situation to implement changes to attempt to make all sports at App State relevant which will eventually lead to that App State to Louisville type jump.
Like Satt, DG will likely hedge a bet on himself earning a bigger payday at a place where he truly has no qualms with living.

I would say its all about the value, not just money.Black Saturday wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2019 9:58 amback to the lesson of Satterfield for everyone, it's always about the money. not a one of us wouldn't make a zip code change for the kind of money he got for moving versus staying put. same for DG.
More money is great, and there is a $$$ figure that would entice me to move there, but it would certainly have to be a hefty raise, as I'm not a big fan of the city and general and hate the weather. I'm sure Memphis AD makes a good bit more than we could offer, the ??? is will it be enough?
The only comment i would make on memphis job in general is, with their emphasis on basketball, I would think they would want someone that has been involved in a more successful basketball program.
Either way, i think we're probably looking for a new AD in the next few years regardless, especially if Drinkwitz maintains the program and Kerns improves.

Normally, if you click on the poster's screen name, it will take you to their profile page. Under their Contact this person there is a link to send a PM. That option isn't there for you.Black Saturday wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2019 11:52 amI don't navigate all over the board. Re: Buyout for DG?
Yeah I’m sure he would absolutely hate taking over a program who has the #1 rated recruiting class in the country.
