Thanks everyone for the feedback, I knew you all would help. Just made all the switches and went with Spectrum Internet, Hulu + Live TV, Netflix and ESPN +, This should get me everything I want and I saved 600.00 a year.

I’m about to move in a few weeks and will be dropping Directtv (after 15 years) for the same set up (except internet may still be ATT).

That's basically the setup I have too (except Comporium for internet which STINKS). Add in Amazon Prime of course! I can honestly say that I have not missed cable or satellite at all!

Hulu live is by far the best streaming service. We've had them all - sling, YouTube, spectrum streaming, PlayStation vue.. Hulu surpasses them all in quality of video, channel selection, and user friendly interface.
Same. Tried all of these and have stuck with Hulu. In our house we have a Roku, a fire tv, & use an Xbox to stream. All work well with Hulu

I've thought of doing this myself, but have held off because I was able to negotiate with DirecTV and they gave me loyalty discount to stay with them.

Question for all of you who have switched...do you notice a difference in picture quality? I watch mostly sports, including a lot of hockey, so any potential loss in picture quality with streaming has me somewhat hesitant to make the switch

I stream through an Amazon Firestick and have no picture quality issues with Lightning games.

The key is ensuring a fast enough internet speed. We cut the cord 18 months ago and zero issues. In my opinion the picture quality is actually better. Full HD and some cases True 4k.

What I found through the years is that most cable companies still do not push full 1080P through their lines.

What streaming service do you use? Hulu, YouTube tv, etc?

I am currently using Direct TV Now but I am looking at possibly switching. I’m not dis-satisfied with DTV, just watching ESPN+ on my TV served to be problematic last season. I had no problem watching on my IPad but my TV wouldn’t show the content. Looking at HULU TV, but they don’t have AMC. And unless things changed recently, I don’t think YouTube TV is supported by the Amazon FireStick.

Pretty much my only grip with the streaming TV is the delay since it's streaming. If you like to live chat or otherwise communicate during games you'll be up to a minute behind those watching on non-streaming platforms.

I dug this thread up because I’m tired of giving DTV $100+ for a service I rarely use. Sounded like Hulu+ live TV was attractive but I just saw they announced a 22% price increase. Any of you guys who use this have reservations at the increased cost?

I was pissed when I got this notification yesterday; the fact they gave like 4 days noticed before the hike takes effect was also odd (its not the extra $10 a month, its the principle of it). With that said, the flexibility of HULU live, ESPN+, and of course Amazon prime (which comes with your amazon subscription if you already have one) is great. I can watch all my channels on my phone or TV and it is still cheaper (for now).

Be prepared if you make the switch of two things. One, who knows when these hikes will stop and two, your mailbox will be full weekly of deals from you previous provider . . .

I've looked at youtubeTV for my area (York, SC) and their website indicates I can get all ESPN's, ACC/SEC/BTN, my local channels, plus a lot of others that I watch for $49.99 a month. Do you find this to be true? If so is it worthy? Is it an intro price and then it's gonna jack up to $100 later on? We're looking to cut DirecTV in January when my latest contract us up.
We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.

I've got a Roku with an ESPN+ subscription. Which unfortunately due to our success, all of our ESPN+ game are getting bumped up to ESPNU and ESPN2. You can get a week's free trial of SlingTV which lets you live stream a few ESPN channels. Although you might have to bump it up to a different plan to get ESPNU.

My son has YouTubeTv and it is as advertised. No intro price. No contract. I called to ditch my DirecTv but they lowered my bill to $49 for 12 months so I am sticking with them for now.

I’m going to do the same, if they don’t give me a discount I’ll go to Hulu or Youtube. Thanks to all for the advice.

It is true. I cut my Spectrum bill in half (still have phone/internet with them) by going with YouTube TV. Have not missed Spectrum video at all!!

I've got Spectrum for internet and cable. Getting ready to change that. Spectrum internet is a mixed bag. Sometimes it's real good and other times it stinks. Question being what do I go to? Youtube TV? Sling? Anyone heard of Apple TV?

The last house that I rented on Boone came with cable + internet included in the rent and my former landlord has still not changed the credentials...so I still use that for streaming access nearly two years later.

I just made the switch from DirecTvNOW/AT&TvNOW with ESPN+ this weekend after receiving a similar price increase notification coupled with the removal of some channels. Was pushing $70 after the increase.

I am now with YoutubeTV and the disney+ bundle (Disney/hulu/espn+). All in for less than $65 and have much more content than my previous setup. Early indications are, YoutubeTV is as advertised.
