Perhaps some on here won't call them the Gestapo now.

I posted this as being pro-ASU rather than pro-police, just to be clear. My interactions with the App State police have generally been positive and I don't have any major or even minor complaints. I don't park a car where I should not park, and I don't drink before games so there is not much reason to interact with the App police now as an alumnus. And I had no problem with them as a student either for more or less the same reasons. But winning an award from police higher-ups and not needing to be called the Gestapo are not mutually exclusive. I am glad they won the award, and being the first ever in the state is an honor I can be proud of for App. More importantly I am glad I am not able to give any reports of negative interactions with the App State police. I can't say that for all LEAs around the state.

In the mid '70's I had parking permits for the stadium lot,for Chappel Wilson,& Wey hall on my back window.I had one of ASU's finest ask me how the hell did I get all these permits.I told him I was a PC.He call in and found out they were all legit.(I was paid staff for WASU when they were both at C.W. and Way hall) :D
