Private support of App—This is where we must go

This post could have been in any number of categories, but the message is the same. If we as a university expect to compete with the best academically and athletically, we have to move the needle more than we’re moving it. I know most everyone who reads this board knows this, but it still sobering to see where we have to get. The road is long but we will get there! Go Apps!
“(Va Tech) university received a record $181.9 million in new gifts last year, thanks to the generosity of more than 30,000 Hokies. Thank you, Hokie Nation”.

Until one large Corporation or Endowment makes App the benefactor of large gifts and others take notice we are stuck in gift purgatory.

Until we break the "our alumni are underpaid teachers" chorus, we'll continue to lag behind our peers. We've got a stellar product on the mountain. We all need to be supporting App with our wallets as well as our mouths. Every dollar counts.

Please, please join Yosef club and contribute. We can dominate if we just give. Let’s make it happen fellow App Nation members. We all love App. #makeanimpact

Many small steps can have great impact. We all put our family and faith first, but if folks would leave a small place in their Will for App, what a great cumulative difference we could make for the future.

I’ve been fighting this battle for decades with college friends that actually support other colleges , and athletic programs.Really chaps my hide . I do see the tide turning , but we have a long way to go.

Yep, can't tell you how many I went to school with have season tickets at State, Duke, UNC- Cheat, Clemson and others. Most seem to get to Boone every few years for a game but they generally go to games closer to where they live.

If you are an App State Alumn and you donate to other schools while giving NOTHING to App...well, you can eat a d***.

That is the battle App has been fighting for years. It also helps now that App is not just a fall back plan. I’m hoping that alone will change the attitude towards giving back to the university.

As little as $5 or $10 a month adds up. That’s a cup of coffee and a sub each month.

That’s just sad.

You have to expand the giving base beyond your alumni...

YC club is great and all (and yes I'm a member), but this is the general forum, and we're talking about App generally. Give to the Appalachian fund.

There are more areas of need than one can count. The Appalachian Fund is the best single gift in that those donations are unrestricted and can be applied where they're needed most. The university as a whole needs scholarship dollars to be able to attract the best and the brightest as well as to fund scholarships for qualified students whose family income is below the poverty line. Whether it's Yosef, the Appalachian Fund, one of the specific college's / dean's funds, or the food pantry for students with food insecurity, your donations are critically needed and much appreciated.

Give now.

Already have. Too, we need to recruit thousands more fans who aren't App grads. Anyone ever notice how many huge benefactors of large universities never attended same?
