Join the Yosef Club
If you or anyone you know hasn’t been contacted to join the Yosef Club please accept this as your formal invitation to learn more about the organization that means more to App State athletics than any other. Send me a PM with your phone number and I’ll be glad to discuss what the group does for App and how you can help its cause.
I’ve been a member since 2003 and a former Advisory Board President. It’s the easiest check/transfer I make each year due to the amazing stories I’d love to share with others who are passionate about Appalachian.

Re: Join the Yosef Club
I'll second Saint3333's invitation. The scholarships funded by Yosef make substantial differences in the lives of App State student-athletes. Those same student-athletes bring us together to cheer the student-athletes of today, tell the tales of "remember when", and enjoy family reunions with friends who are not our own kin. Yes, your donation, regardless of the amount, is THAT important.
If serving is beneath you, then leading is beyond you.

Per the FAQ:TheAppalachianState wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2020 10:00 pmCan I write it off with taxes? Is that a thing?
“Since my company offers a matching gift program, can I apply this to my Yosef Club membership?
Yes, the Yosef Club accepts matching gifts towards your membership. However, as a result of the tax legislation approved by the United States Congress, the ability to deduct charitable contributions associated with the purchase of athletic tickets is no longer permissible as of January 1, 2018. Please consult with your tax advisor for professional advice.“
I’d chat with your tax person/check your tax software to be sure.

Re: Join the Yosef Club
My understanding is that, as long as you aren't reaping a benefit (season tickets/parking) through your donation, than you can write it off. If you are a season ticket holder or parking pass holder, than you out of luck. Someone can certainly correct me if I'm wrong...TheAppalachianState wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2020 10:00 pmCan I write it off with taxes? Is that a thing?

You get to use a % of your donation as a tax deduction based on the amount of benefits you receive

Re: Join the Yosef Club
My renewal for 2020 was set up 6 weeks ago. I have a timely monthly draft so I get to set my budget. Would like to upgrade? Yes but although retirement has its advantages one of them is a fixed income. Still I'm happy to still be able to continue to give.
Find someone who isn't a member and encourage them to join. As was stated earlier no amount is too small or insignificant. Do the math: get 1000 people to give $50 a year. $50,000 is not chump change and you get to fund a couple schollys!

We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.

Re: Join the Yosef Club
This guy is correct. A portion is deductible on taxes. Yosef Club will send out what your “benefits” are actually worth and you subtract that from your donation amount. Anything left over can be submitted has a charitable donation.

Re: Join the Yosef Club
For those of us without children the standard tax deduction is $12,400 for 2020. So unless I give more than $12,500 in charitable donations or have medical deductions or something like that, my Yosef donation doesn't help me on my taxes. Nevertheless, I gladly make my donation and will continue to do so unless I become destitute. My wife and I are far from wealthy, but we are putting a portion of money in our will. Hopefully Yosef won't see that for a while though!
