Stimulus Funding (CARES Act) for Colleges

Unread post by Saint3333 » Tue Apr 21, 2020 3:19 pm

https://www.insidehighered.com/news/202 ... l-stimulus

Funding levels are based on a complex formula weighted toward institutions enrolling large numbers of students who qualify for Pell Grants.

App receives ~$16M. Others of interest:

ECU - $19M
NCSU - $18M
UNCCH - $17M

AZ St. - $63M
GA St. - $45M
GSU - $23M

Schools with multi-billion dollar endowments also received funds. Seems like these funds should only go to those under a certain threshold, at least the part that isn't tied to financial aid grants to students. This is like giving Bill Gates the $1,200 stimulus.

Well for once there is not too much disparity in "funding" between us and ECU, Chapel Hell, and State.

I like how you mixed up the usual jab at our sister universities by not going with Easy U, and instead tossed it over to Chapel Hell.

Yep. Normally I'm the least of those who jab our sister Universities. Look at all the venom that is tossed at WCU and UNC-C. I normally defend our sister schools, but I admit I have a prejudice against the arrogancy of EZU and Chapel Hill. Goes back a long long time. They have disrespected us more than any other universities in the system over the past 50 years ago. You have similar feelings against LU. But you knew that.
Stay safe, McL.

Like giving Bill Gates the $1200? How 'bout Harvard University?

Facing Backlash, Harvard Will Allocate 100 Percent of CARES Act Funds to Student Financial Assistance

Should any university that has over a $500M endowment receive any funds?

If not used at times like these what are they used for.

Companies are dipping into revolving lines of credit, individuals are dipping into savings.

Ivy league hypocrisy has surpassed Doc Holiday levels.

Harvard has, reportedly, backed down and now after being shamed will return $9 Mil to the US Treasury.
