Re: NFL Draft
So here is what happened. The belief was Moss from Utah would last a little longer and thus the opinion of most was Evans goes in 4th. The reason in my post above I said he may sneak into 3 was because Titans loved him. When Moss went it was figured he could go. I just did not see Moss going so early. If he had not gone I think Evans was going mid 4th and possibly later. Colts got the Wisconsin RB so they would not take Evans. Those were the two teams who my friends say had the highest grade on him.

Re: NFL Draft
Gaither was in the discussion for two teams late in the 3rd round. One of them picks early in the 4th round. I expect him to go by pick 115 overall. Gaither will not have to wait long.
I am indeed a little surprised Gaither is going just after Evans but one pick can trigger some things that pushes certain players up or down. It did not look good for Evans when Taylor fell to 2nd round and Colts got him. Then when they traded down I thought either Evans is going 4 or Titans take him if Moss is gone. Moss going clinched it for him.

Re: NFL Draft
It’s amazing how these puzzle pieces fit. But it shows how far down they draft for need instead of taking the best player available. Round 4, I feel, is still mostly a draft for need, basically because of the 12 hour reset between rounds, but after that, it becomes best available at that spot.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 24, 2020 11:07 pmGaither was in the discussion for two teams late in the 3rd round. Agree. Dumb pick. Highsmith should have gone in 5th round, not 3rd.MAD Doctor wrote: ↑Fri Apr 24, 2020 11:15 pmCan’t believe the Steelers took Highsmith over ADG. Their loss.

Re: NFL Draft
It really does. There are players taken late in 3rd that were talked about by the team who took them when they picked much earlier in the round. Happens in every round. For example a team I know loves Gaither discussed him but took an OT. They pick before 115 and he should be in the discussion again. I'm not sure who else they will talk about but I know Gaither should not have to wait long. I would be completely shocked if he is still on the board by 115. A couple of my contacts told me once pick 95-97 approached that he truly had a shot so I would think by 115 or so he is gone.AppinVA wrote: ↑Fri Apr 24, 2020 11:18 pmIt’s amazing how these puzzle pieces fit. I thought Highsmith was a DE - ADG is clearly not a DE ---MAD Doctor wrote: ↑Fri Apr 24, 2020 11:15 pmCan’t believe the Steelers took Highsmith over ADG. Their loss.

Re: NFL Draft
Trying to be totally impartial here - I would probably look at taking the 2 Alabama OLBs over our guy simply because of the level of games they have played in and against the best competition - You know if a guy starts on defense at Alabama at any position that he is a player - Now, I also believe whoever get Akeem is getting the kind of player who will make a difference and early.

Re: NFL Draft
Yeah, I don’t disagree WVA. Highmith at like 256 lbs might end up as a LB but who knows. He is not the same type of player that ADG is. You just never know in a draft... that’s what makes it interesting. The fact that there were no pro days probably helped some but hurt others. Also except for the 1st round guys, there is an inherent motive for teams to take a player as late as they can.

Re: NFL Draft
Have been a Panthers fan for a long time (although with this off-season I am one foot out the door), but this would be the last place I want ADG to go. Really want him to go to a place where there is a clear path to playing time, while also having some time to develop. The Cincy staff apparently loved him at the Senior Bowl and they kick things off today and see that as a nice spot for him to land.

Re: NFL Draft
He did play DE for them but could be a 3-4 OLB. I would say ADG is a better prospect than Highsmith and it goes to show it just takes one team because I was hearing that Highsmith is more of a 5th round grade and not late 3rd round. ADG is now a value pick because he easily could have gone in the 90-105 range.WVAPPeer wrote: ↑Sat Apr 25, 2020 7:49 amI thought Highsmith was a DE - ADG is clearly not a DE ---MAD Doctor wrote: ↑Fri Apr 24, 2020 11:15 pmCan’t believe the Steelers took Highsmith over ADG. Re: NFL Draft
ADG going to the Bengals! Solid highlight reel too.
They butchered Appalachian during the announcement though....
