BOONE — Under new restrictions adopted by the Boone Town Council on May 21, anyone (except work commuters) arriving in the town of Boone who previously overnighted outside Watauga County will not be permitted to enter establishments open to the public, other than medical facilities, until they have stayed overnight in Watauga County uninterrupted for at least 14 days.

are they actively trying to kill all the tourist business's that even made it through the last two months?

This seems like a terrible knee jerk reaction to the wilkes county meat packing plant.

Especially in light of the new CDC guidelines that have the CFR @ .4% for symptomatic cases. That's with 35% asymptomatic cases. If the # of asymptomatic is higher, CFR plummets even further.

I don't see how they could ever enforce this. Do they expect businesses to ask for a copy of a utility bill at the door?

Correct, unless visitors to the county have their status tattooed on their forehead how would the business know? Maybe the utility bill is the answer.

So I’ve been “quarantined” in Charlotte for weeks...have a cabin across the line in Ashe and can’t go to Boone....I understand need to be safe but that seems a stupid line to try to draw. Totally unforceable.

We have been staying at our place in Avery County since last Saturday. Was planning on spending a good bit of $ in Boone this week-end, so I will probably have to check out their "enforcement".

I assume Blowing Rock isn't adopting the same policy.

Outside of visiting the campus or occasionally King Street, I usually avoid Boone. I've come to realize that the likes of Blowing Rock and Banner Elk are equally as appealing, with smaller crowds and less b.s. That's not to say I don't enjoy various small business stores and restaurants in Boone, it's just lost its look and feel from when I was in school. Maybe I'm just being old

Most of these laws, rules, and mandates are all ridiculous and impossible to enforce. Some of these make little to no sense. Buncombe County decided the extreme measures NC has taken weren’t quite enough. Restaurants can start opening on limited capacity state-wide. Here in Buncombe County and Asheville....get this...masks are required to eat at a restaurant. Yes, a mask must be worn... to eat... We’ve all been told we shouldn’t touch our face, but here we will have to touch our face to move the mask covering our mouth before replacing it between bites.

These new “rules” prove you can’t fix stupid, and prove just cause someone is in charge, doesn’t mean there’s much “going on upstairs.”

I have family in Tennessee, South Carolina, Florida, and Georgia they all seem to be getting along just fine.

ignore them. until I see a corresponding credit on my property tax bill i'll take the same privileges as all other county property owners. This whole virus thing is overblown anyway.

They acknowledge the difficulty in enforcement and have said that enforcement will be "complaint driven."

From the looks of this it appears the whole Town Council is made up of "Coronavirus Karens". Absolute lunacy, a waste of time and resources, and impossible to enforce.

As previously mentioned, this is impossible to enforce! Since most of the leadership around the country doesn't appear to have a clue with how to deal with the current situation, BTC just threw something together to make it to seem like they are doing something.

So how are they going to enforce this? You know, so are they going to require an ID to eat? They don't even require an ID to vote.
