Most Important Plays/Player/Coach

Some off-season fodder leading up to a potential season.

1. For EACH sport, what is the most important play in the programs history?
examples: A big shot in basketball, A match point in tennis, a big football play, wrestling, volleyball, track, soccer, CC, etc.
I know some of those other sports would be tougher for average fans but I know we have some reps from every sport who read this board and could contribute.

2. Who is the most important player for each program.

3. Most important coach for each.

This could be a chance for people to learn more about our non football sports as well. So all you knowledgeable Apps can begin your history lessons.

Man...that's tough... between Fox, Capel, and Buzz (Part 2) it's a tough choice

I'm going to say Ingle Martin falling down for football. If that doesn't happen, we may not have won any championships and might not be where we are now.

I think with basketball the first time Buzz left was a huge program hit and changed us in the wrong direction. He had a chance to build a serious mid major contender here but he chased the fame and money and barely got either. So it was a big moment for him and us. He never truly regained that spark that he had during his few years in the late 90's.

As far as a moment goes there were a few DJ Thompson moments and some rodman like rebounding cleanups for Jeremy Clayton that year that got us to our last really successful and fun season. Sadly we got out coached a few times too many.

Its hard for me to say who the best coach was as I don't know much about the pre Bobby era. So I'll have to go with Cremins here.



Track/CC wise we do have Anthony Famiglietti. He ran a sub 4 minute mile and some other stuff.

I guess another one for basketball might have been whe George Holmes wrote a check.
