Just watched an hour-long feature on ID--Investigation Discovery: Sins and Secrets (DirecTV Channel 285) concerning the kidnapping, rape and murder of Jeni Gray and the kidnapping and rape of Leigh Cooper--two ASU honor students in 1989.

It was a sad reminder on man's inhumanity to mankind. Disturbing, actually!

It was Leigh Cooper [Wallace], a former ASU track & field champion whose courage and quick thinking allowed her to escape, find help and eventually identify the perp.

Sadly, both are deceased. Jeni was kidnapped, attacked and murdered, and her body dumped in a ditch in rural Watauga. Leigh Martin Cooper Wallace died last December after a catastrophic illness.

The perp, Daniel Lee, pleaded guilty on all counts and was sentenced to death. He would later die in prison of a cerebral hemmorhage.

I wondered what happened to Lee. I was a soph when this happened and I remember it like it was yesterday. It was a real shock that someone could be kidnapped while jogging on River Street.

Anybody know where the crimes were committed? They didn't really say on the show. I heard it was on Jake's Mountain but not sure if that's true.
