Welcome. Lessons to be aware of (some serious, some not serious-but all are true):
1. You are a Mountaineer first and foremost. You may have other allegiances, but App State is first. There can be no arguments. And seriously, join the Yosef Club and support your school.
2. We have never played Va Tech in football, despite what the internet may say.
3. It is required that we have a monthly (at least) discussion regarding new regional FBS conferences.
4. Cups, with ice, are required for optimal, in stadium football enjoyment.
5. Vinegar based bbq sauce is best.
6. Criticism of any player will bring immediate castigation.
7. NewApp was once known as JCline, but he doesn’t like to be referred to as Cline. People still call him that. He will announce a hiatus at some point each year.
8. Recruiting info is in the Lodge, and all commitments are first announced by Firemoose. Failure to adhere to this rule should result in a lengthy ban.
9. GreatAppState (GAS) owns the 100 day countdown to football season, and was likely the originator of the idea for the entire internet.
10. Discussion of any game other than the next one on the schedule is forbidden. Fan discussion will have an immeasurable impact on the performance on the field, and will cause App to lose due to overlooking an inferior opponent.
11. Game week discussion is encouraged, but predictions for the game (especially score predictions) should not be made until the official prediction thread is posted on Wednesday night by BigC.
12. Charlie Cobb lucked into everything he accomplished at App State.
13. No politics
14. Furman still sucks. As does Western Carolina and Georgia Southern.
I’m sure I missed one or two, feel free to sticky/add.

Other things to remember. Even if 3 people create threads on the exact same topic- Kendall Lamm scores a TD for example, feel free to start another one. Let’s see..App football has, for some unknown reason lost a few games this season- not sure if you have kept up. It’s not acceptable by many of the folks here and they will scream for benchings and firings. Just ignore that stuff. Welcome.

A couple of other "rules":
General comments on upcoming games are fine but predicting scores should be held until the official thread and write-up is created by BigC (generally on Wednesday before the game).
Any support for another college team should be followed by a clear statement that App State is your undisputed FIRST choice. Failing to provide that clarification will often bring wrath, especially if that other team wears baby blue as their official color and is known for massive (but unpunished) cheating scandals in the recent past.

If you talk on this message board about any game on the schedule, other than the very next one, you'll cause the players and coaches to lose focus and put that next game at risk and it will be your fault. That's even if we're in January talking about the next season...please restrict your comments to the opening game of that season even if it's a lower tier FCS school...LOL.

Rick I’m not sure if you have been clear enough regarding policy. It may not be applicable at other schools but at App the opinions of old, mostly fat and out of shape alumni directly affects the outcomes of games which is a major reason why WE can’t assume a win over St. Mary’s School for the Blind when we prefer to discuss the P5 opponent in week 2. And every season there is the proverbial trap game so one must be aware. The old guys on the board who, while attending App recall the games where snow was 8’, sleet rained down and the winds were 50 MPH- we won all of those games. Playing in that weather is a HUGE advantage for us and it’s unacceptable for current teams to not use it as an advantage.

Please amend #6 to include that Cline’s (NewApp) hiatus will be announced.
#7 Recruiting commits are to be announced first by Moose.
