Re: App State Logo Designs?
The MM logo kind of fits into the sailor hat schtick that a lot of P5's have used in the past. It's a decent logo but looks far too dated and, dare I say it, hokie to pass as anything other than a throwback or rarely used alternate.
Even though the Victory Yosef predates the MM it has a very clean design that will not age any time soon.

Re: App State Logo Designs?
The version of Yosef in "Flying Yosef" was terrible. That was during the period when everything was being sanitized and they "cleaned up" his look. The pipe was gone and the hat was smoothed out. It basically just looked like a boring dude in a hat and nothing about it said "Mountaineer." I liked the overall design and wished they would use the traditional Yosef in it. Looking at it today, it does seem dated and too busy so I wouldn't want it back.

That one is by far my favorite logo and we should absolutely adopt it as our primary logo.....whatever it takes.

I like ESPN's treatment but I think it needs to be stronger somehow rather than just a silhouette. I'm also partial to the MM logo but then again I'm a sucker for retro looking stuff.

When I responded to this question, I left out a most important point. The branding council has a great deal of influence on logo design/program branding at our dear App State. I neglected to make the point that, at the end of the day or at the end of a campaign for a new representative image for athletics, Doug Gillin and Chancellor Everts hold all of the Aces and Dueces. DG is all about building a recognizable brand from coast-to-coast and beyond. One can't do that while changing images on the "whim" of one small group or another every three-to-five years. It's not quite like refreshing the classic grill of the BMW every ten years or so.asu66 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 12, 2021 10:02 pm

Note...even BMW can screw it up. If you've seen the grill of the new, all-electric 2022 beamers, then you know what I mean...

Whoa. I've never seen that secondary Yosef logo. Love it. That should be the only Yosef logo. More modern. Edgy. Freakin awesome. When they use that. I've never seen it

It's from ESPN's "IN" campaign for the CFB playoff a few years ago. As far as I know the school has never used it. I'm not even sure if we have the rights to it.

When will "It's better than what we had" no longer be good enough for App State?
