Appalachian State University is set to announce this Tuesday that after two seasons, the turf at Kidd Brewer Stadium will be changing once again. In what will be a new hot-button issue among fans, the Athletic Department will be changing from a traditional green field to a gold one. The end zones are going to return to being black with the block letters APPALACHIAN and MOUNTAINEERS visible. The sidelines will also be black.

“This was part of the ‘heavy lifting’ I mentioned last week,” said Athletics Director Charlie Cobb. “I fully expect fans young and old to gravitate towards this new change. The players and coaches are very excited.”

I heard this mentioned a few weeks ago but I thought it was a joke since we just had the turf replaced so I didn't ask any more questions. I figured they had better places to spend the money in the stadium and if they were going to replace anything it would be when they put the new conference logos down. I only have one thing to say if we're doing this. PLEASE put true GOLD down. Nothing from the yellow pantone or palette. App's colors are Black and GOLD.

I counted over 200 tweets just on my search engines in the last 12 hours talking about it and many of them seemed to believe it.

Oh I agree. T did a great job. I saw it the second he posted it last night/this morning. I added my post to "poke the hornet's nest" a little minutes later. The first twitter post came up at 12:32 am and they've been coming ever since.

I think the yellar field worked best on those outside the MMB, however the SGA lawsuit would have blown the lid off the MMB!

What's interesting is that Central Arkansas made their announcement of the purple and gray field on April 1 too. I just knew it was a joke until they actually did that. Who knows, maybe you'll see the yellar stuff at KBS soon as well.

Well played Cabin Peeps..if you would have said the turf would have been packed in cups w/ ice...then you may have had something #aprilfools

I saw this was picked up by a Chapel Hill board so I consider today a great victory.
