Southwest Virginia/Washington D.C./Richmond Alumni Chapters

Unread post by /\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 » Tue Nov 09, 2021 8:26 am

For anyone that sees this and is a part of any of the mentioned Alumni Chapters, I'd like to connect to find out more about what each chapter has to offer. I know I can read the description online and email the chapters, but wanted a true opinion based off experiences.

Each location is a reasonable drive for me based off of my location in Virginia, and I'd love to get more involved with networking and events.

My uncle lives in Baltimore (Also an App State grad) and he's attended some of the watch parties in the past held by the D.C. chapter. He says they do a pretty good job and are held at nice restaurants.

I’ll be keeping this saved for when I move from Los Angeles to DC (at some point…)

Interested too, by the way where do you live? I'm in Mechanicsville, MD (Southern Maryland).

I am in Rockville (northern part near Gaithersburg). My firm relocated me up here last October 2020.

According to the alumni webpage. I feel like I've heard bcoach and AppinVA mention it before too.

I do attend some watch parties with the Richmond chapter. Around 10 folks get to each party give or take. Unfortunately, sometimes I am unable to go due to my kids being active in various activities, or fortunately, because I am in Boone. Before the pandemic, we did things other than watch parties, and I expect we will again once the season is over. Natalie does a great job leading the group.

More specifically, I'm in an area called Charlotte Hall/Golden Beach, I retired from the military 6 years ago. Now days I do pretty much whatever I want to do. lol I do work part time for a company driving Air Force applicants to Fort Meade and back two to three days per week. Keeps me busy and I enjoy talking to the future airmen/women, airpersons whatever.

There is an active SWVA chapter. They have watch parties almost every away game. I'm on their Facebook list and there are usually about 10 or so folks who attend. They do a number of other activities like attend Salem minor league baseball games. I have never been to one of their functions but they do quite a bit.
