Health Complaints Thread
Got a good belly laugh with my peeps as we compared ailments and health issues…this is our discussion now as opposed to 50 years ago when all we talked about was girls, Vietnam and hitting the Library Club, Antlers and Villa Maria.
So…I have used humor to get me through a bout of the Big C and I thought anyone that wants to vent about those illnesses could come here and we could chat! Humor helps!

Diabetes, liver disease, and Stage 3-B Chronic Kidney Disease. Otherwise fine except being about 25 pounds over weight.

5 DVTs in my legs...three skin cancers, one of which was melanoma, low blood count possibily linked to pre myeloma....my stories are about the BI where I worked my senior year; the circle of death.

How many of us should put "Gold Room/Carousel of Death Survivor" in our signature lines here?Rekdiver wrote: ↑Sun Dec 26, 2021 12:10 pmI ate many a burger, pizza , and corn dog off the carrousel of death…..appstate77 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 26, 2021 12:04 pm5 DVTs in my legs...three skin cancers, one of which was melamoma, low blood count possibily linked to pre myloma....my stories are about the BI where I worked my senior year; the circle of death.

Re: Health Complaints Thread
Yesterday I ate a huge amount of cherry cheesecake, a big slice of red velvet cake and a small slice of pecan pie loaded with cool whip. I repeated this in smaller doses this morning for breakfast. I expect to die from this by late afternoon. If not, I’ll check to see if there is any left.

Wishing everyone the best of health in the coming year. If you survived eating at the BI, you should be pretty much bulletproof!

My roommate and I road our bikes to BR. Stopped at Antler’s for a couple of pitchers of beer then rode that 2 lane road back to Boone. Not sure how I made it back!WataugaMan wrote: ↑Sun Dec 26, 2021 5:00 pmWinkler's Creek Road too

Re: Health Complaints Thread
15 months ago I had covid. I’m sure I have a few lingering after effects. Well, maybe some of the effects are due to old age... like being tired a lot more than a few years ago.
I’ve also had the two shots. So at my “wellness” exam a couple of weeks ago, they checked me for the “antibodies”. My blood tested at the “high end” of the covid antibodies test. Don’t know how long it will last, it’s been since Feb. 21 when I got the last shot.

I had covid last December prior to when you could get vaccine. To this day, I still feel more fatigued and go to bed earlier than normal. Prior to December last, was not an issue. It is weird.Oldlknapp wrote: ↑Sun Dec 26, 2021 7:27 pm15 months ago I had covid. I’m sure I have a few lingering after effects. Cruised last week. Gained 5 pounds in 6 days...I kid you not. If I don't eat the right way pounds just jump on me. USED to eat anything and everything all day(and Drink 12 beers) and not gain a pound.

Re: Health Complaints Thread
1. Degenerative disc disease causing fairly severe R lower back pain....multiple steroid injections, a radio frequency ablation (nerve burn); see a chiropractor, take meds.
2. Gastritis...stable...relatively well controlled with dietary modifications and Pepcid
3. insomnia
4. surgery to R kidney mass; surgery for R vocal chord mass....both successful, both benign
The problem is the meds for one thing can cause problems of their own...for example pain meds cause ear ringing, or worsen insomnia....insomnia meds cause ear ringing.

Re: Health Complaints Thread
Without going into a lot of detail:
1. Ruptured both Achilles Tendons seven months apart, thinking I was younger than I really was.
2. Oral surgery to seal front tooth with failing root canal.
3. Laser surgery on my right retina (still getting regular check-ups).
4. Benign Parotid Tumor removed, probably due to all the x-rays from #2 above.
5. Currently a little scarring on my lungs, nothing to worry about according to the specialist. However, I will be getting regular check-ups (every six months) to keep eye on situation. By the way, I quit smoking those damn nasty cigarettes over 30 years ago.
God willing I'll be around another quarter century or so, I had 4 great-grandparents live past the age of 92. By the way, my great-aunt (Maggie Moretz) lived to the age of 104, oldest living App Alum at the time.

Re: Health Complaints Thread
I feel kind of healthy after reading.
Just diabetes diagnosed in mid 30s. Then back started falling apart last year, replaced c6 vertebrae with CF reinforced cage/titanium hardware (the 2 disc were broken and squishing spinal cord in half, causing numbness from chest down). Still some budging discs in lower back.
