Not directly as I have not been to it. However, the first realtor, that we used when looking for a lot to buy in the area, mentioned she liked the restaurant.

I love The Gamekeeper. My favorite restaurant up here in the High Country. The mixed game grill appetizer and Emu filets are my favs….

I had never heard of it until I skimmed this issue and noted the App State heading. How long has it been around? I assume they have the more classic fare of a hamburger made of cow and not just duck and emu.

It is really good, well worth the price of the meal which is on the higher side of the area. I highly recommend it and try to go whenever I am in the area.

I have been going there since about 2014-2015. They usually have bison, elk, and beef tenderloin….along with trout and other fish dishes. It’s a little pricey but the setting and quality of food is worth it.

I think its been around a little longer than that. Thought it was closer to 05-06 time when it opened.

*Edit* According to their website it was founded in '87 and bought by current owners in 2000 to keep it going.

here is their menu. Ive heard good things, but never gone. Kinda hard for me to pay that much for something exotic that I'm not sure if I'd like or not.

The gamekeeper is one of my favorite restaurants in the world let alone Boone. I actually went there for my senior prom dinner in 2000 and it had already been there for a while. Mixed Game grill sampler is to die for. Location is beautiful off Shulls Mill road. I would recommend for anyone in the High Country looking for a more upscale dinner. We don't get back to Boone enough. When we do, the Gamekeeper is high on our to do list.

Emu filets? Are you kidding? Hopefully they didn't use some of the Emu's in the petting zoo at Tweetsie. :) Bet it tastes like chicken. :)

Bunny sausage? I hope it wasn't near Easter. Now boar sounds good.
