1 athletic item/building
1 campus building
1 campus infrastructure
1 Boone city item
1 App tradition
1 other
If you could change, remove, or add something in each category, what would it be?

If money is not a constraint
1. Entire West side of football stadium. Build a new one with individual seats
2. Rankin Hall
3. More apartment like campus housing so kids do not have to continue to rent from landlords that have zero accountability
4. No new buildings greater than 2 stories tall
5. Change the song that refers to Tenn and get our own song...Luke Combs you are on the clock.
6. Bring

back

Going to give it some thought before I give mine, but thumbs up for this thread. Should be a good one.

I'm doing different answers just because.
1. Holmes Center - lower normal capacity to 5-6k, add luxury boxes, comfortable seats, different types of concession stands
2. Chapel Wilson Hall. It needs a nice renovation.
3. Get rid of Legends and buy Phil's, turn the who area, most that parking lot, into a natural amphitheater (the Holmes Parking Deck will compensate for loss of parking.
4. Destroy The Cottages, make the land a nature preserve.
5. Easy, the Viking Clap.
6. Add men's and women's ice hockey.

No beef per se, just not a good looking building when you walk by it was on the way to football stadium. Needs updating inside and out.

- Need a full-service hotel, whether on-campus or off.
- Selfishly (see the username), I wish they would renovate East Hall rather than tear it down. I'm sure some others feel the same about their old dorms, but there is/was just so much funky history there.
- This isn't just a Boone trend, it's a college town trend, but I wish that King Street could remain mostly the domain of local businesses rather than national chains like Alumni Hall and Ben & Jerry's.

I'll make a separate post for this to discuss a bit more: What's the deal with the Appalachian Theatre? It's such a great location and the exterior looks awesome... but does it mainly just program for older locals?
If so, I think they need to have a much broader mix of events to try and appeal to students. Perhaps a regular discount movie theater. (It was a $1.50 theater when I was in school, what a loss when that spot closed down.)

No doubt. Not to sound ugly, but it seems like such a waste right now. Agreed it looks great, and could a really cool spot.

Rankin Science **West** is old. As much I love that building its time for it to be updated to look like Rankin Science North

Keep all the old buildings and plant ivy around them so we can be an “Ivy league” school.

did you see that they will be using east hall as swing office space for everyone displaced by the edwin duncan renovation?
it will interesting to see what happens to that building.

Clean up the duck pond and keep it maintained.
Put a boardwalk around it and dress it up.
It looks the same as it did 45 years ago.

Hadn't heard that - my understanding was that students are housed there now and that it's scheduled for demolition after this year, I believe to be replaced by green space. Is that no longer the case?

I lived in East my freshman year. I have to admit that I'm amazed it is still there.

I don't know other than for at least another year and a half it will be used for facility offices. It will be interesting to find out if it will also be used as overflow freshman housing.
Even after the new 750 bed dorm opens it seems as though there will still be a shortage of dorm space if enrollment holds (unc system is forecasting drops in enrollments system wide).

Another change...have a spring FB game open to the public with a fan fest like event for public. Just IMO, want to get more people invested in program on personal level by meeting players, coaches, support staff.

I may be more sentimental to Rankin West than I am losing Bowie dorm. The odd stairs and floor numbers due to that arrangement are already gone, so keep the rest. Though I agree it does show its age, and the new Rankin is much nicer.

Not so much appearance for me, but I’m 70 years old and I still have nightmares about finding room 253 for biology 101 my freshman year 1970.

That is what I loved about the building. It required a BS degree is spatial studies just to learn your way away. Also I loved the diorama of the campus on the 4th floor.
