Actually, it's not that unusual in American soccer. Also, in these competitions the MLS clubs don't often use their all of their top flight players. It's clearly not the equivalent of App-Michigan.

Not surprised. These types of close call games happen every year in the FA Cup. Chelsea had to win in extra time against Plymouth Argyle this year. Talent gap is much greater between those teams than it is Charlotte to Greenville.
