I saw that retired anthropology professor Harvard Ayers recently passed away. I didn’t have a lot of interaction with Dr Ayers but I did take his North American Indians class and was fortunate enough to make one of his trips to the southwest in the mid 80’s. It was quite the adventure with two vans full of students. It remains one of my favorite memories from my time as a student. Rest in peace, Harvard.

Thanks for posting this note. I had looked him up a few years ago to no avail. There used to be a library in the Anthropology Department it seems that had moved from the private collection (of a Catholic monk maybe) that lived in Boone. I had some items I was going to donate to the library but have never been able to track anything down. The library may have been gone for decades now since my interactions with Dr. Ayers were more informal around some peace and justice work while a student and that ended in the early 1990s after I graduated.
