I know this is a lot to ask, but...

Can we keep the discussions on Yosef's Cabin Appalachian State related? I know that there are certain areas of this website for just non-Appalachian discussions, but when I come to Yosef's Cabin, I don't want to see our fans arguing against each other over politics and governmental problems. I know that these problems should be discussed, but I feel as if a college athletic forum isn't the right place.

If we're going to argue, let's argue over which year the football team was the best, or who will become a true rival in the Sun Belt. I'm sure I will catch flack for this post, but I'm sure I'm not alone when I say this: I come to Yosef's Cabin to talk about how much I love Appalachian State and how much I support the athletic department there, not about who is doing what in Washington DC. Y'sC is a bit of a quiet area, usually, when it comes to the worries of the world. For just five or ten minutes of the day, I like to come here and talk Appalachian, not politics and world issues.

I am also sorry if I offended or upset anybody with this post. I believe that we should all be informed citizens and we should share our opinions, but I believe that there is enough negative in the world that we should not bring it to what is typically a light and funny message board.

On the old board we have a politics folder. In fact I think you had to be asked to be on it or you cold block it or something. They did not implement that folder on the new board. I don't mind the discussion, but a specific folder we could ignore or not as we choose would be nice in my opinion.
This is my very generic signature added to each post.

I will check into the possibility of making a by-request-only folder for political/social discussions.

Welcome to the offseason. YosefsCabin is a pretty boring place nowadays (for me) with all the talk of non Appalachian discussion, but it should fade come August/September. If people keep bringing up these topics amidst football season, then it's time to complain. Priorities, people!

Personally I like having different areas and forums for discussions. There's only so many ways to talk about football and frankly some of the topics get repetitive, especially in the offseason. I don't like politics, so I stay away from those threads, but I've had a lot of enjoyable reading in the off-topic folders, or other team's athletics folders, etc. I vote keep it how it is.
