Having proven our superiority over the 'Giners yet again; I have to admit that I was astonished at our overall ranking of No. 452. Yikes. Sure, we were ahead of Charlotte, Wilmington and Asheville by a good bit, but we're all pretty far back there. That doesn't really make the UNC system seem like the string of pearls it's made out to be. I blame budget cuts. Rabble Rabble.

I don't understand the rankings Forbes does. Some of the schools ranked ahead of us are ridiculous. I can't see how we can have almost identical statistics (SAT, Acceptance Rate, etc.) as JMU, yet they're at 138, while we're all the way back at 452. Even C of C, and El Cid, both of which we're usually compared favorably to, are significantly ahead of us

Here are the factors, but while they say they are looking at "output" over "input" (ROI), if you don't look at the kids going in how do you judge the university "effect" on output? For example, your dad owns the company, you go to a college and come out as CEO, did the college have any effect on the output? Students loans is a big factor also so if you have lots of poorer kids it works against you. One reason private colleges do so well. Plus 22.5% is Student Satisfaction, lol.

That's why I think the Affordability ranking is more important. It gets at the point of whoever you are which college is going to give you more bang for the buck.
