Questions

Unread post by BeauFoster » Thu Aug 09, 2012 12:14 pm

Couple of questions about the new board, none are really pressing, just (personal) nice to haves:
1) Will we have the option to choose the number of posts displayed per page in each thread? I'd like to have more shown than the standard 15.
2) Avatars?
3) Any rep/like/dislike of posts?

I'm sure more will come up, thanks for the forum.

4) Will this forum be added to the Tapatalk app for smartphones? That would rule.

Can't say I've used Tapatalk before but if you just open a browser and go to http://www.yosefscabin.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, click Menu in the top right hand corner and click Mountaineer Message Board, it looks like the forum looks pretty decent on smartphones (mine anyways). It's a little bit different than this but seems to work better than most forums I've tried on my phone.

Hey, thanks for the questions.

1) The current number of posts displayed per page is 20.
2) Avatars are up and working. You have to load your own image, but go into your user profile and you should be able to set up an avatar.
3) Rep/like/dislike and things like that are up to the decision of Glenn (appst89). I'll let him weigh in on whether he wants to include a reputation based system - or the like/dislike a post type of thing.

I'm okay with trying out a rep points system. We should play with the new toys we have and see if we like them.

So far the adjustment seems to be going well. Will the original MMB content be archived somewhere over here? Thanks! :ugeek:

Unfortunately, Delphi does not give me the option of moving content.

I've already paid for the Delphi forum for a year so I'll keep that site until the year runs out. At least I'll be able to reference old topics.

Will the Delphi content ever go away? There are lots of schools at Delphi that have been dead for years but their board is still there, though it might not be possible to do much searching after 3 months unless you are a plus member, I do think the content is still there.

Are we going to have a Char mode like the Delpi forum did. I liked that much better than the way WCU would do it on their board with a message stream.
This is my very generic signature added to each post.

Is there a way to read only the new messages so you don't have to scroll through all of the posts again? I haven't figured that part out yet. :?:

Is there any way to set the code to put the window at the top of the page when jumping or clicking the "back to XXXXX" button? Currently it is pushing you to the bottom of the page when you do this (or at least it is for me).

Is there an easier way to read this board? I click on "unread posts" but all it does is take me to the thread where the unread post is. I have to wade through all the posts in that thread to get to the unread post. The old board was much better at expediting that exercise. :?:

If you click on the little red page icon under the title of the thread it will take you to the first unread post.

If you click the red page under the title of the unread post - it should take you to the first unread post in the topic. There is a small bug with it that I am working on.

I don't mean to be dense but I'm not following your instructions.

I see a little red icon next to the thread with the unread post but when I click on it, it just takes me to the start of the thread.

No no you're fine. That is what you're supposed to click and it should take you to the first unread post in the thread. Unfortunately - there's a hiccup in the system and it's not doing it every single time, only part of the time.
