Long time lurker here with something to say finally.
I just wanted to thank you guys for your support of the football team and through some sort of trickle-down effect, the band. 4 years, 36 football games, 10 shows, countless hours of practice, and 3 directors later, I have played my last song with the Marching Mountaineers. I have played in 5 states, 2 countries, 6 stadiums, and 3 foreign cities, in every possible kind of weather, to literally millions of people. I have been there for every home football game (and a bunch of away games) about an hour before kickoff and until the last notes of the Tennessee Waltz echo off Howard's Knob. The experience has been amazing and I have been so proud to be part of the Mountaineer game day.

It may be great to be a Mountaineer, but its even better to be a Marching Mountaineer.

Over the years, I've met many many attendees who have come to ASU football games only to see the band. Some people are just music and pagentry lovers who really could take it or leave it in regards to football.

I've brought several high school band kids to App football games to show them several things - what good football looks like, what good fans look like, what a good band looks like, and how important they all are to the gameday experience. Most of these kids play in their high school marching band or are drum majors. They're always blown away by the quality of the BOD and the appreciation the fans have for the BOD.

Thanks for treating us to four years of delightful work!

speaking of the BOD ...how are the numbers looking for the new Director this year?

I want to thank you very much for your contribution to the BoD. My wife and I are always in the stadium waiting for the band to make their entrance to transform KBS into "The Rock." BoD is the catalysis that make KBS one of the most exciting and inspiring places in college football. And I can not overlook the moment that the BoD marched into the Big House; perhaps, one of the most remarkable and impressive moments in App history. Thanks again and Go App!

I know what you mean. Being in the band and marching into Michigan was one of the coolest experiences I've ever had. I think that was the loudest our marching cadence ever was too. It also gave me one of the best seats in the house ;)

We were on the front row directly you guys. It was awesome to be there and be so close to the field, but no doubt the BOD being right in front of us made it that much better. We were celebrating with the band the entire game.

No one who has ever experienced the drum cadence as the band marches in formation up Stadium Drive and Jack Branch Drive into KBS; the "National Anthem;" "Bugler's Dream" kickoffs; the halftime shows; the fight song after scores; the "Alma Mater" and the post-game "Tennessee Waltz" will ever forget the goosebumps that run up and down his/her spines. It's an experience to live for! I carry all those tunes in my head everywhere I go. THANK YOU FOR YOUR MANY CONTRIBUTIONS TO NC'S BOD.

Get bumps thinking of hearing The Marching Mountaineers playing Tenn. Waltz.

I don't know for sure. I won't be in band this year. I do know, however, that our new director has made an impressive effort to recruit high school students though. He's been visiting schools around the state and even asked us for schools that we thought would be interested in being recruited. I'm excited to see the band return to the numbers we had my freshman year of '09 and earlier!

Also, I can't give away the details but if you guys want to see the band do something really special, hang around for the post-game concert Sept 7th (first home game)
I promise you, it will be worth it!

The BOD is always worth watching and listening to. But, to think that they are adding something extra special ...WOW. Boy, time goes excruciatingly slow, but at 65 maybe that's a good thing, ha, ha.

It's not that so I will give this away. I've always thought it would be funny for us use that song with the band. Just own that mess :)
I suggested this to one of the guys in band leadership whos pretty good arranging music and it looks like there's a 95% chance of Hot Hot Hot being one of our new stands tunes.
It's not a sure thing though, but be listening for it!

Agreed, we need to own it. I'll be listening for it, as I've been hoping for this for a while. I have it as a ringtone!

Gotta disagree on this one. I think it would be funny if it was done once or twice, but for it to be incporporated into the stands tunes where it gets played on a reocurring basis - I think that is overkill.

That's cool, without disagreement this would be a boring place.

Let me know when it's played, because I really have no idea how it sounds. I watched the video one time, and it was enough for me. Since then, I've treated it like a Michigan fan treats Sept. 1, 2007 -- in my mind, it never happened.

I remember the JMU band, which was more loud than good, doing Hot Hot Hot in the 2008 game.

I think doing it once a game in the stands would be fine. It's finally time to embrace it and not let it be used against us anymore. Hot Hot Hot has been around for NINE YEARS.
