I'm unsure if I can get to some folks, but if you are trapped by a tree, I'll dig out the chainsaw and head that way. I really don't know what all I can do for anyone at this point but if you need ANYTHING, let me know. If I can't get it done I'll see if I can contact someone that can. I'm down in Iredell but I can hit 77/421 or 115 and head that way. If anyone else is in a position to help folks, post below. We can network to get people help.

Son lives up above stadium drive. Tried to get out this morning but road up there was blocked by a tree. No idea if it’s been cleared yet

If for some reason they don't get it cleared, and he needs to get out...let me know.

Just walked to end of the road to the house we are renting. The road is completely flooded and there is a house in the middle of the road...the road is covered in water. Power lines are down everywhere.
We are fine and our rental home has no damage or power. May become an extended stay though..

If you can get to the campus, they have opened the dining hall and have power, wifi, food, and water.

Curfews are in effect and local law enforcement agencies are really tight on who can/cannot get up the mountain. Besides, other than Boone/Blowing Rock proper, many areas are inaccessible because roads are washed out/blocked or DOT has closed them.

I know this is short notice, but it just came to me about 20 minutes ago, but if anyone in the Greensboro area wants, we will be collecting bottled water at All Pets Considered on Battleground tonight at 8. Red Dog Animal Farm has connected with a NPO in Western NC and will be sending up supplies tomorrow.

Also for anyone in the Triad looking to help, the Greensboro Alumni Association has a drive set up at Terminal Tap:

The next , expected and yet dreaded phase is here. The mountains are on fire. Fuel piled up everywhere, very low humidity, gusting winds. Multiple growing fires throughout the region. More popping up. Air quality plummeting. Homes have been lost . We need help from above, we need rain.

Stonewall, What's the latest update for the Boone area. I knew they were bad in Polk county and that adjacent area.

Was just in Asheville for work today and between the devastation from Helene still apparent and now the fires (smoke was bad in areas), my heart really breaks for everyone in WNC.

Going up 26 and other routes over to TN you will see a ton of devestation still. Some of those areas won't recover totally.

As we speak the north west corner has been spared. So Boone itself is ok. For now. South and southwest are in bad shape , getting worse by the hour. Structures destroyed. Mandatory evacuations . Air quality alerts to remain inside in about half the region currently. Tomorrow to be dangerous.

Off the main roads it is worse. It will take generations to recover or frankly , just move on. The psychological toll on everyone is just as real.
