Looking for Some Good News
Going through a rough patch. It looks like we stink, well at everything here lately.
Can some one give me good news about anything?
Baseball, maybe cross country, track and field, academics, fundraising, Chancellor search, Funding from Raleigh, Cycling, something, a new college coming to ASU, anything?
I bleed black and gold but seem to be losing a lot of it lately. Pump me up!?
I feel like I need to ask Claude to mail me a Jean Lawson or something.

That new student union is pretty swanky. I know baseball is far off, but Notre Dame is coming to Boone this year. Pretty cool.

This is App State. Win or lose, it's great to be a Mountaineer. All I need to do is think of how special that place is, and there shouldn't need to be an abundance of wins to be pumped about App State.Apptiger wrote:Going through a rough patch. very excited about baseball, atleast on paper, very strong recruiting class, great schedule, playing a lot of nationally ranked teams, and we get some of them at home. Looks like Jones is taking what Pallard started to the next level.

^^^^This plus Track and Field should be pretty good along with softball. We also have several nationally ranked wrestlers.moehler wrote:very excited about baseball, atleast on paper, very strong recruiting class, great schedule, playing a lot of nationally ranked teams, and we get some of them at home. But as Neer' said it's great to be a Mountaineer, win or lose. I've been here a long time, through good and bad, and there will be more of both but my support will not change. There are some talking on other boards about pulling their support and moving from the mountains to Florida to fish. I spent nearly 10 years there, both east and west coasts, and can give them some great spots. I can also tell them to enjoy the skeeters, gnats, gators, saltwater crocks, coral snakes (and now anacondas, large boa constrictors, and monitor lizards that have invaded), various spiders as big as your hand, biting flies, guinea wasps, heat, humidity, and the occasional hurricane to liven things up and take all you have. To each their own.
Point is you either support your school through thick and thin or you don't since all schools and/or teams from high school to the pros go through both times. It easy to support in the good times. I choose to support in the bad as well. But that's just me. I will never condemn another should they not hold the same view. I'll just say welcome back when things are better. I'll still be here.

Fred's Liquor is having a sale on Bud Lite, get a 30 pack for $19.99. That's good news as far as I'm concerned.

Okay, It's confession time. The question/complaint/ whine was a plant. A bogey with a dual purpose.
1. Fishing expedition
2. Preemptive strike regarding some trends (whine) on other threads and posts. Wanted to kill some of it once and for all. Thought this thread might get more responses but....
My apologies and sincere thanks to those who posted trying to lift my spirits and pick a brother up. Had a laugh or two. Though Woodlands at the HCC is interesting and good news.
For AUSUMountaineer and Firemooose, congratulations. That is pretty much exactly what I was looking for. A reminder for everyone.......
As Thanksgiving approaches, we have one thing to be thankful for that no one can ever take away.
WE ARE MOUNTAINEERS!
We were fortunate enough to go to ASU. Just think, we could have been forced to go to another school. Imagine if we had to go to ____________(fill in the blank).
Win, lose or draw.....
GIVE'M HELL APPS!

Re: Looking for Some Good News
One of the App cyclists won the Downhill National Championship at Beech Mountain.
Volleyball is much better this year and have the building blocks to be a force next year. Only two seniors.
Men's Soccer had a down year but they return the core of the team next year as well.
Wrestling will contend for the SoCon Title.
Women's Basketball is struggling now, but I like the attitude I see from the players. They will get better and be a pain for the SoCon in January.
This is the last year of Capel's contract.
And as already mentioned, baseball is worth getting excited over and softball only lost seniors (albeit two clutch seniors) from a SoCon Championship team.
Not to mention the recruiting bump most of the programs will get from the Sun Belt move should help.
Also, the 2015 football home schedule will rule.
