Thanks for the link, this is a good story.

two things I picked up;
1) What if we would have hired him instead of the one whose name shall not be mentioned???
2) Oval is older than ASU66 :lol:

I really enjoyed that read. For us "youngin's" (though I'm RAPIDLY racing away from that description), I find his work ethic to be refreshing. Thanks for posting!

Hey, I'm pleased that an App grad who will admit to being older than I am has finally surfaced. :mrgreen: There are plenty more out there, but they'll never admit it here. But I know who they are... :twisted:

And can everyone fathom that Appalachian turned down Oval Jaynes in order to hire the one whose name shall not be mentioned??? Unbelievable, but it did happen. We also turned away Jim Donnan and Chan Gailey at the same time. Donnan was at KState and Gailey was at Air Force. But we just had to have the Wake Forest *flash." How did that "work" for us?

Oval wanted the AD job at App when Garner left--but Mark the Drip make sure he didn't have a chance. And then we were stuck with Laney.

What if ? Oval had been hired in place of the golden boy from Wake. I know he wasn't there that long but those were a couple of lost years. What if ? Oval had been hired in lieu of Laney. We would have progressed much further faster and with socks :D

Considering the current state of our major sports programs, we might could use a consultant. He could work from home, and between naps and Matlock reruns. :D

This is the kind of booster we SHOULD be allowing to influence our decisions.

He's a man I'd certainly want to have talking to people on App's behalf.

If, as everyone seems to believe, J.Capel's contract is not renewed, then a a smart move for Cobb would be to have a legitimate search committee for the new head basketball coach, and include invitations to both Bobby Cremins and Oval Jaynes to serve. Those two men have contacts and personal capital everywhere!

It may be rare we all agree but a search committee with Cremmins involved is at the t of my list.
