New Chancellor
"On Wednesday March 19 the new Chancellor for ASU will be announced in Chapel Hill. The Board of Governors meeting will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the board room of the Spangler Center in Chapel Hill—following an affirmative vote on the candidate presented by President Ross, the Chancellor-elect will be introduced."
Any inside info on who it will be?
I've heard a name, but don't know how solid the information is.

I know it's trivial, but it REALLY grinds my gears that this announcement comes out of the town Chapel Hill.

Re: New Chancellor
This time tomorrow we will know the name of App State's new chancellor. If he has half the passion of Ken Peacock it will be a success.
I'm excited, nervous, optimistic, etc.
Here's to a qualified man who gives his all for Appalachian State.

Re: New Chancellor
Supposedly the search committee comprised of Appalachian selectees narrowed down the pool to the two finalists and gives a wink to the Board of Governors as to their preference. I doubt the faculty will be pleased with anyone who even mentions athletics in the same sentence with the word "University". Our Chancellor has to make a budget with the stipend afforded us by the State and our faculty's ire should be directed to the unequal allocations to NCSU ans UNCCH. Ken Peacock may not have been the best administrator but he damn well was the best marketer of Appalachian we've ever had and he was accessible to parents, students and alumni. He also saw the value in the branding of a University that success on the field as well as the classroom could bring. That's a tough act to follow. Amen.

Re: New Chancellor
I was under the impression that they actually had three names but one took another position after the search committee made their recommendation. So, only two names were submitted.Rekdiver wrote:Supposedly the search committee comprised of Appalachian selectees narrowed down the pool to the two finalists and gives a wink to the Board of Governors as to their preference. Remember all the "diversity" discussion of a week or ten day ago? We'd better be wishing and praying for the most qualified man or woman who can be convinced to live in The High Country for the next eight to ten years. Our next chancellor could be a minority woman. If her qualifications are unquestionable and if she believes in high success in both academics and athletics--then so be it!Gonzo wrote:This time tomorrow we will know the name of App State's new chancellor. Re: New Chancellor
Would it be possible for KP to remain involved with the marketing of the school in some capacity? I know that it could be a problem with the appearance of "too many chiefs," but man I'd hate to see his abilities not continue to be used in marketing Appalachian.Rekdiver wrote:Supposedly the search committee comprised of Appalachian selectees narrowed down the pool to the two finalists and gives a wink to the Board of Governors as to their preference. Re: New Chancellor
Did anyone notice during the SoCon Championship last week the Chancellors from both Wofford and Western trying to stir up their crowds? They looked really unnatural doing it, but I think they saw the influence Peacock had on our fanbase.ASUMountaineer wrote:Would it be possible for KP to remain involved with the marketing of the school in some capacity? Sorry, I didn't mean to be gender specific. Just choosing a pronoun.asu66 wrote:Remember all the "diversity" discussion of a week or ten day ago? Well SHE better be a football fan.
Not too crazy about her education background. Business minds have gotten us this far.

She gets points for being a football fan and mentioning the Michigan win and the rematch.
