Hey guys,
1. Do any of you have any pictures of the old student Yosefs?
2. Does anyone know the process by which that student was selected for the role? Tryouts? Applications?
3. How would you feel about bringing a Student Yosef back in addition to our current costumed mascot?

Nominations and campus-wide election.

Hell, yes! If the role is going to be taken seriously as a throwback Mountaineer.

I strongly agree with bringing back a student YOSEF! I'd rather see YOSEF fire the rifle over a ROTC cadet.

Basically, Yosef just needs a pair of overalls, flannel shirt, brogans, hat, and a good, full beard. And of course he carries his black powder rifle, which he loves to fire at every opportunity.

I did it for Basketball in 76, 77, 78 and Football in 1977. Great times. I still have the hat I used to wear. I believe Charlie Fox did it after I left but then a few years later they stopped doing it. I tried out with the Cheerleaders being the judges. Basicly after a certain look and great enthusiasm. We even had tryouts for a Yosefeen. We staged a shotgun wedding in the center of campus before Homecoming and she joined me on the field that day. Lots of pics in the 1978 yearbook.

Now they're babies. Well, not quite, but they seem to be getting younger and younger every year.
