Come on Moose - some would not have anything to say if they didn't want someone canned ---

Yeah I know. But since I've decided not to make any comments outside of the recruiting threads I decided not to make any statements.

How can I sign up to be a coach at App. You beat one good team in a year and a quarter, Georgia Southern in 2013, and get a contract extension. I'm disappointed in Satterfield, but I'm not calling for his head just yet. But how can anyone justify a contract extension.

Major eyebrow raiser. I believe BOT has zero confidence in SNE to hire an AD. Unsubstantiated, just personal opinion.

I'm generally on board with what Satt is doing, but even I think this is odd. I could understand a raise given that he was hired at an FCS salary and his pay now lags well behind the rest of the Sun Belt, but I don't quite get the reasoning for an extension. Congrats to both, though.

I don't agree with this at all. What has he done to deserve an extension? I have nothing against him and really wish him and the program success, but come on. Look what they have to go on so far and they extend Satt contract? Give me a break. He might turn it around next week and never lose again but you extend the contract of a losing coach? This looks like the same old homer ball the we were playing under Moore.

I believe he is referring to our new chancellor.

This is ridiculous. Might as well give Fox some of this. Hasn't coached a game yet and he is already more impressive than Satterfield.

I feel like they think he's on the right path and is doing a good job in building for the future and want him to be able to stay the course without an axe hanging over his head. This also can't hurt in recruiting. Let every kid know that the University believes in their coach and that he will be around to build this thing. I like the move.

OK - thanks --- well that comment makes no sense to me then - So the BOT hired a new chancellor who they felt couldn't hire an AD - ???
I would say this is more about getting Coach Satterfield in line with what his conference peers make AND just as important, to not give the impression that he might be on the "hot seat" or a lame duck when it comes to recruiting over the next year or two ---

BOT did not hire the chancellor. They recommended 3 candidates to te
UNC board of govs that fit the
UNC board of govs criteria. The
UNC board of Govs ultimately hired SNE. Essentilally SNE could have been our least favorite of the candidates that met the
UNC board of govs criteria, yet our BOT had no final say.

OK - I can see that - however she could have been the top choice for all parties --- I still think it has much more to do with the other 2 reasons ---

I certainly agree. Was just providing insight as to where I thought C was coming from. We good.

BOT do not dictate such moves. As the article states, they approved it. It had to come from campus first. I suspect it was because we are painted in a corner. We can't afford to hire a new coach at the market rates, so we have to give the current plan the best chances for success. As posted before, it is doubling down on the bet to send a signal of confidence to the staff, players and recruits. If anything, the new Chancellor made this move because she is willing to let it succeed or fail with the current plan, but she is not willing to throw any more money at athletics when the rest of campus is starving for funds for academic and faculty needs. Given that the costs/losses of the move have been far larger than expected and that Raleigh continues to not provide enough to maintain the status quo on the academic side of campus, it is hard to disagree with this approach (which may or may not be the case).

You can't judge this coach until he has all his players on the field . Our roster was depleted , thats why we have so few juniors and seniors in key positions now .our number 1 ranked sunbelt class from last year is almost all redshirting. We will judge him in about 2 to 3 years! Same with coach Jones!

So technically, he's been given a five year contract and not saying whether that is good or bad, but it definitely says we have a great deal of confidence in him, none the less.

How do we know that his is now more in line with his peers when we don't know the new salary? Not doubting, just wondering.
