What do you think of our new Chancellor so far? What questions and comments would you have for Chancellor Everts if you had the chance to talk with her?

She was proactive in the Anna Smith situation.
Very engaging at various events.
I have heard she's hands-off when it comes to athletics, which has its positives and negatives.
Otherwise it's way too early to tell.

I'd ask (suggest) her if she has plans to create more doctoral programs and help move Appalachian to become a research institution?

sadly, any doctoral programs have to go thru Chapel Hill for approval, I believe Peacock was frustrated because Chapel Hill kept undermining his efforts to improve the academics, until we can get a fair evaluation, I don't know if we can ever start a doctoral program. As far as athletics, still too early to form an opinion on her, I hope she doesn't undo all the great work Peacock/Cobb did.

Agreed. That's why I would ask if she has plans. Perhaps she will have more success? I don't know, but that's something I really want to see for our "little school in the hills."

agree 100%, but until we get some people in Raleigh, who are not on the payroll of UNC, and are fair and sympathetic to App, I just don't know how she will get past the politics.

I don't know if she will, but I'm really interested in hearing her goals and plans for the future.

Although no longer an issue what would have been wrong with asking someone along the ilk of erskine Bowles, Hugh McColl or some recently retired high profile CEO with clout in Raleigh to be the Chancellor? I do t think education. Background is an absolute necessity.

A non-participating Chancellor in athletics makes me a little leery in light of the many problems and near sided changes we need to make. Track, potential stadium expansion, Boone Town Council, controversies, loss of athletic personnel recently, etc. Seems they are fine with a temporary AD right now, but just hope we get a really good and fairly gung-ho AD ASAP, but wait if need be to get the right one.
She seems to be doing as well as could probably be expected.
