I wrote something about this.

It's something when the school is saying four of the deaths are under investigation with only two confirmed suicides and the Boone PD police and the App State police cheif said two of the mysterious deaths were suicides by hanging, making it four suicides in total.

I don't see any intent to cover-up or deceive. The university is producing a statement that relies upon the medical examiner's findings as opposed to specifying "suspected" suicides. It appears that they are endeavoring to report the facts on that basis. Had the findings been available for the other two deaths that are suspected suicides, I believe the numbers would match up.

This was part of the unfortunate reason that the first tragic death was still feared by some to be a homicide even after she was found, when it may have been apparent to the responders (bot not officially confirmed) to be a suicide. In that case, the Boone police did release a statement a few days after she was found indicating that suicide was suspected but not confirmed - with the stated intent to dispel fears of a killer on the loose.

There are so many who have been affected by these tragic events and so many who are working as hard as they can to care for the university community and prevent future tragedies. I have the utmost respect for them.

I don't think there's any intent to cover up or deceive, just being aloof. Their attempt to clear the air will lead to more questions and more headlines. After the number of deaths since 2000 was released, there were headlines regarding that, taking things out of context.

It's certainly sobering and deeply troubling, at best that can be said. So few details have been released, that it's quite natural for parents to be highly concerned and for some students to be really spooked.
