How do we get over the GS hump?

What is Stink doing that we aren't? We have pretty much come to an agreement that they are our most heated rival yet recently they seem to own us at every turn. Again, what are they doing that we aren't? How have they been able to reach success at football, basketball and now, after a horrible sweep, baseball. I feel confident that we will turn the tables on them next year in football. Basketball looks like a multi-year project and baseball, damn that looks bad right now. I'm sure we have success at some minor sports but geez we need to get them on a more routine basis in the major sports!

GaSo has been better than App THIS year but it's not like they've been wearing us out for consecutive years. They bettered us in baseball last year (3-2, split 1-1 in the Socon tourney), App beat them in b-ball (81-68) and App spanked them by the same score 34-14 in football in 2013. I know folks like to dump on Jones' management, or lack thereof, in baseball but it must be taken into consideration that our guys have played 15 straight games off the mountain.

When one program jumps ahead, the other responds by passing the opposition momentarily. This is how a rivalry is suppose to look. Just tip your cap to the Eagles and start prepping for the next shot.

Also, GS has been having one of their best athletic years ever. They lose six seniors in Bball next year, all who contribute, so this year is looking like an anomaly. Football, I suspect we'll both continue to battle it out every year near the top of the conference. Baseball might be trouble, but let's see how the rest of seeason works out.

2013-2014 Season
Football-App 38-Ga Sou 14
Basketball-App 81-Ga Sou 68
Baseball-Ga Sou 2-1 series (2012-2013-App 2-1 series)

All Time Records:
Football: App 16-13-1 (8-4 last 12 games)
Basketball: App 25-18
Baseball: Ga Sou 58-18

Baseball all time obviously needs work (been playing them since 1967) but one season does not make Ga Sou a "hump".

Yeah, not worried about football at all.

Basketball is no mystery - we were in year one of a complete rebuild. The question isn't why we didn't beat Southern - it's how we beat anybody. I think we all feel pretty good about what Fox is building.

agree about GS season being more of an anomaly than the norm going forward, traditionally, their basketball program has been just as bad as ours, so Im not buying, atleast yet, they somehow have turned the corner with their program. Football wise, they still have to replace 4 starters on the OL, I don't care what a GS fan tells you, anytime you replace that many starters of the unit, you are going to struggle, atleast early in the season, and their defense still is just average at best, if their offense struggles, that means their defense will be on the field a lot more, which means they are going to give up a lot more points. Summary, in the short term, things are good in Stinksville, but in the long term, with the hiring of the new AD (who on paper looks great and just what we need), better coaches, (I'll take SS and his staff, Fox and his staff, over GS any day), and I'm hoping, the start of renivations to the stadium, and a larger athletic budget, (hopefully growing), ultimately we will be a better program on a consistent basis.

They've only won one of our last 4 football games. If that's a "hump" you ought to get your suspension fixed.

The only thing that needs to "get over the GS hump" is a flock of sheep right outside Statesboro.
