Wrestling in North Carolina, and the City of Kannapolis lost a true champion for kids Saturday March 21st as Mr. Mauldin passed after a short illness.

I met Mr. Mauldin, (I never did or could call him anything but Coach) years ago as a new employee of Kannapolis City Schools. He was always a champion of Wrestling. What people may not remember was he was the principal of our Kindergarten Center for years. He loved all kids and had an impact on the lives of 1000's of children over the years...All who are better off for his influence!

God Bless his family.

App's Family lost a legend!

Love ya Coach!

When was Bob at AL Brown?

When were you at AL Brown, or were you not at the high school?

RIP Mr. Mauldin.

Bob Mauldin was an advisor and mentor to me as a young wrestling coach. He listened to my complaints of refs and always encouraged everyone to better themselves.
Wrestling will miss Bob.

Yes, a great loss for wrestling, Kannapolis, and the ASU family.

Mr. Mauldin was not at ALB....he was the principal at McKnight Kindergarten. He was always around ALB....football and wrestling practices, games and matches.

I student taught at ALB in 1981, and came back to work at ALB in 1985. Was the trainer there until 1992 ish....and am still in Kannapolis City Schools.

Go Wonders!

My first job teaching was at ALB from Dec 1, 1992 until the end of the school year in June 1993, and then I moved to the Triad to get married. My student teaching was not technically over until Dec 4 but I had four days I could miss and ALB was tired of going from one sub to the next. I would have stayed there but my wife had a job at Glenn in Forsyth and I figured it would be easier to move to the Triad than try and get her a job in that area at the time.

I took over from the long time Physics teacher there that moved to Cabarrus County at the start of 1992 when a new school opened somewhere around Concord. I think he was teacher of the year the next year if not the state then at least a region of the state. I can't think of his name now.

I was already at the CO with Students Services and testing by that time. I left in spring of 92. Becky Shopf was the new trainer. It is a small world. Crazy how a day or two and a circumstance changes what happens in a career!

But once a Wonder...Always a wonder!

I wish I could get back that way a bit more. As much as I love Amtrak I should take a train ride and take in a movie at the Gem and take the train back. If the times would work that could be cheaper than a movie in Greensboro. (I assume the GEM still runs and is a cheap as it was in 1993.)
