I read this today about Anaheim Stadium and the Angels trying to demand that ticket takers continue through the Anthem. They are balking and I don't blame them:

That being said, last fall we were at the large area where the band usually practices and warms up. There was the usual large number of tailgaters, kids running around, Frisbees flying all over the place, and folks having a grand time. As the band rehearsed all their numbers everyone was really enjoying the music and preview to the game performance. Then they broke into the National Anthem. Every one; boys, girls, children, adults......stopped in their tracks, stopped whatever they were doing, and stood at attention with hand over heart until the band finished. One of those memorable moments that made it especially gratifying to be a Mountaineer!

The anthem at the 2005 championship game is still one of my favorites. The mic cut out on the singer and the whole place picked up the slack.

The new arrangement from this past season is my favorite so far but the incident you mentioned was also very cool!
We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.
